Debra’s Spring ’16 Succulent Videos, Design Ideas and More!

– Posted in: Succulents

It’s been a succulent spring. Below are links to my latest YouTube videos and other content I’ve created for your enjoyment and edification – all of these videos are about succulents and succulent design! I adore making YouTube videos as they allow me to share my passion for nature and gardening with the world. However, I recently discovered that some countries block YouTube videos. If you would like to watch YouTube videos that have been blocked in your country, you might be able to access them by hiding your IP address. Take a look at this useful guide from websafetyadvice.com to learn more.

Furthermore, a few weeks ago I happily shared with you that I was profiled in Garden Design magazine. They’ve since sent me a link so you can read the article online!

I made a 4-min. video showing how to make the container project featured in the article.

I hope you enjoy watching my videos as much as I enjoy making them! Want to be notified whenever a new one is released? Subscribe to my YouTube Channel.

My newsletter goes out two or three times a month with the latest news from the world of designing with succulents. It’s not online, but you can subscribe on any of my website’s pages (and unsubscribe whenever you want).

In another recent video, four messy, overgrown hanging baskets of succulents get a makeover as I prune, remove, clean, and refurbish the plants. I add a dollar vine (with leaves like silver dollars), cuttings of trailing aloes, and explain how to replant echeverias, rosary vine, and fascinating Kalanchoe synsepala, which sends forth offsets on the tips of pendant stems.

My “How to Pair Succulents with Bright Colored Pots” video shows the vivid container pairings I made during a presentation at Weidner’s Gardens nursery near San Diego. Find out why certain succulents work with intensely colored pots and others don’t. Succulents in chartreuse? Sure!

In “Design Ideas from an Award-Winning Succulent Garden,” I take you on a tour of the garden that won San Diego’s drought-tolerant landscape design competition. I explain many of the great succulent design ideas that the garden exemplifies, and ID its most significant succulents and other waterwise plants.

New on my website. I aim to have the most comprehensive, informative, visually dynamic site dedicated to succulent design anywhere on the Web.

As I answer questions that people email me, I continually update the Succulent FAQs page.

I’ve really gotten into cactus—mainly cool little collectible spheres in containers, but also nearly spineless paddle cacti in my garden. View my 16 Reasons to Grow Opuntia. (See if I don’t persuade you!)

My list of San Diego Succulent Sources and Destinations is now on my site.

I’m creating photo galleries of various genera of succulents as time allows. So far I have over 100 labeled photos of Aeoniums, Agaves, Aloes, and Crassulas. Feel free to download and use any of them; all I ask is that the watermark remains intact.

I also blog on my website. Often my GGW posts are similar to those on my website, but my site has many more. I post when I want to share additional news, photos and info with my fans and followers. Topics on my site posted this spring that are NOT on GGW include:
