Succulent Books and Bouquet Giveaway

– Posted in: Succulents

Did you miss the chance to win? It’s not too late! There’s another drawing going on over at my publisher’s website, now through Friday, June 7. All you have to do to enter to win a copy of Succulents Simplified is say “hello” in the comments!

Announcing the winners! It was really difficult to select among so many excellent entries. Consequently, I’m giving away an additional book for a total of SIXTEEN prizes. Many thanks to all who participated!

The winners of the links to the online photo library of container compositions are Alyssa Tang, Lisa Lonsdale, Rita Frakes, Rita Shaw, Pam O’neall, Sara Chantell, Sonia Deetz, Nicole, Laura Crowley and Rita Ericson.

The winner of the mug + book is Chip Milligan

The winner of the notecards + book is Cheryl Baker

The winner of the bouquet + book is Jeanine Campos

The winner of the two-hour workshop + book is Bonnie Barabas

The winner of the watercolor + book is Diana Clark

And an additional book is going to Eden Yaege for her aunt!

To celebrate the release of  Succulents Simplified: Growing, Designing and Crafting with 100 Easy-Care Plants, I’m giving away FIFTEEN succulent-themed items!

My “Succulent Books and Bouquet Giveaway” continues through Sunday, June 2. Winners will be announced June 3. If you’ll be at the Succulent Celebration June 7-8 north of San Diego, you can pick up your prize then. Entry details follow, but basically all you have to do is leave a comment stating which prize/s you’d like to receive.

Drum roll…the prizes are…

Agave watercolor DLB-1

(1) An original watercolor by me of an agave, 9-by-12, unframed. You’ll also receive a signed and personalized copy of Succulents Simplified.

DLB_at_RG-1

(2) A two-hour private container workshop with me at Oasis Water Efficient Gardens nursery in Escondido, CA near San Diego, for one to four people, scheduled at our mutual convenience. You might do the workshop one-on-one; bring your mom; or come with one to three friends (makes a great birthday outing). Obviously this is best if you’re within driving distance, but if you’re not nearby, San Diego is a wonderful vacation destination (just sayin’). I’ll show you how to effectively combine succulents in terms of color, form, texture and pattern. Then I’ll help you pot up your plants. Potting soil and tables provided. Bring your own pot/s; plants not included. You also will receive a signed and personalized copy of Succulents Simplified.

P1100448

(3) A bouquet of a dozen succulent rosettes made by me, based on one of the book’s how-to projects. Such bouquets last without water for weeks because of the leaves moisture content and waxy coating. The bouquet can be deconstructed and planted as cuttings. Vase not included. The winner also will receive a signed and personalized copy of Succulents Simplified.

Screen shot 2013-05-21 at 3.17.33 PM

(4) Seven succulent greeting cards from my online store, plus a signed and personalized copy of Succulents Simplified.

Screen shot 2013-05-16 at 12.11.38 PM-1

(5) A mug illustrated with my watercolor of a graptopetalum, from my online store. The winner also will receive a signed and personalized copy of Succulents Simplified.

Online library-1

(6) In addition, I’m giving ALL FIVE winners, and to TEN runners-up, the link to my Succulents in Containers online photo library of design ideas.

TO ENTER, you must be 18 or older. Leave a comment below stating which prize/s you’d like, and why. Hint: Mentioning more than one prize, especially a less popular one, improves your odds of being a winner. Leave only one comment, please.

You also can improve your odds of winning by sharing the cover of Succulents Simplified (see below) on your own blog or on Facebook, Pinterest or Twitter. Be sure to mention in your comment that you’ve done so!

A discerning third party (someone who won’t recognize names) will determine the winners. They’ll be notified via email on June 4 and I’ll also post the results here. NOTE: Winners of prizes requiring delivery must have a US or Canadian address.

Thanks for celebrating with me! — Debra

Maureen McLarnon May 24, 2013, 4:44 am

Prizes #1 and #4 look amazing!! There is nothing better than originals!!

While the other prizes look great, I am very far away in Pennsylvania so couldn’t take advantage of them.

What a nice giveaway. Thank you.

Jenny May 24, 2013, 6:16 am

I have the perfect place in my living room for item number 1, your watercolor painting. Of course I would also like number 4. Thank you for the opportunity to win one of these lovely prizes.

Celeste Melville May 24, 2013, 6:52 am

I would love to have the watercolor and of course the book! Or a bouquet of a dozen succulent rosettes. They have a category at the Denver County Fair for succulent arrangements and I would love to have the book to try some of the projects and maybe enter! My vegetable garden is a work of art, but winning a blue ribbon for my kohlrabi just wouldn’t be as good as winning for a succulent design! I need help! Not to mention succulents to get me started!

Lodus Schreiner May 24, 2013, 7:44 am

Although I’d love the #2 (private lesson), that would be impractical since I live in Florida! The succulent bouquet could be shipped so that would be my first choice followed by any of the other prizes. I have just bought the first two books on succulents & have started planting them in pots. I spend part of the year around Atlanta, Georgia to be with my grandchildren, so my garden is a traveling one with different plants moving with me in the back of my convertible as I go back and forth!

Tim May 24, 2013, 7:53 am

The watercolor and bouquet are both lovely.

Heather May 24, 2013, 7:55 am

Would love the notecards !!!! Love succulents!

Heather May 24, 2013, 7:56 am

Love the notecards!

Lita Sollisch May 24, 2013, 8:00 am

The agave watercolor will look marvelous in my butterfly room, and I’ll place “Succulents Simplified” (after I’ve read it) on a glass table with a bowl of graptopetalum. Now, doesn’t that sound glorious!

Carol Yemola May 24, 2013, 8:11 am

I would love to win Prize #4 which is seven succulent greeting cards from your online store plus a signed and personalized copy of Succulents Simplified. If the cards are anything like the print and the mug they must be absolutely stunning! Thanks for the opportunity. I really enjoy your blog!

Lori DiLoreto May 24, 2013, 8:14 am

I love the watercolor! I already have all your books, but having one signed is icing on the cake!! I live too far away for the personal workshop. I also love the mug with one of my favorite succulents on it!

Lisa-St. Marys ON May 24, 2013, 8:23 am

Oh my! What a wonderful prize list!
1) That is a beautiful watercolour. It would look fantastic in my new (old) cottage.
2) I wish I was going to be in California to have a personal lesson with you. That would be a wonderful experience.
3) Another one that I wish I could win. But I’m pretty sure you aren’t going to ship that bouquet to Ontario for me.
4) My family would be thrilled to receive these greeting cards instead of some of the stock ones in my basement from school fundraisers.
5) Again, a beautiful watercolour, this time on a mug. And with all of them that fabulous book.

6) Those online succulent pictures are a prize all by themselves.

Thanks
Lisa

Elizabeth May 24, 2013, 8:30 am

My grandmother had a yard full of succulents in the 50″s . Ahead of her time. Never needed to water, living at the Great Highway in San Francisco. When they bloomed all the neighbors would come and have their pictures taken in the yard. It was a hidden garden of San Francisco.

loved your article and love the watercolour and mug

Belinda Renno May 24, 2013, 8:32 am

WOW….Have been looking forward to the release of your newest book. I pinned the image of your artful book cover to my Great plants and planters board 5 days ago. Just winning the signed copy of the book would be terrific….very generous. If I had to pick one of the prizes I would pick the original watercolor.

Jean Ells May 24, 2013, 8:40 am

I would love to win the gorgeous watercolor. I love to surround myself with plants and with original art, and your watercolor combines both beautifully.
My second choice would be to win the beautiful mug, which would help me reach both gopals as well.

Kim S May 24, 2013, 9:06 am

Since I’m not near San Diego so can’t attend a workshop (and I’m not sure the bouquet would ship well), I’d love the mug and the book. How cute is that mug. I’ve also pinned your book on my pinterest page and liked your site on facebook.

Charlotte May 24, 2013, 9:08 am

I love the agave watercolor and the other artwork you did on the greeting cards. Eager to read the book…

Chip Milligan May 24, 2013, 9:15 am

Hi Debra,

All of the prizes are really beautiful.

If I had to choose between them, in order, it would be your cool coffee mug, and your new book.

Then, the succulent bouquet, for a wedding we are having in our garden in July, that the bride could carry.

A private session on succulent arrangement with you would be really nice, too!

I have posted a photo of your new book’s cover on my Facebook page.

Thanks, Debra.

Hi Debra,
Life is full of funny coincidences. My discovery this morning while reading your email about your giveaway makes me pause for a moment and ponder our amazing existence.
My husband found my story to good not to let you in on it!
Several months ago while researching Matilliha Poppies, I ran across your post on them. You had a beautiful photo that inspired me to paint it. I sent an email to the site about using your photo as a reference. In reading on I discovered some of your beautiful watercolors and was amazed at your comment about feeling the muse and picking up a paint brush to give it a try. WOW your paintings are stunning! As I know people have a lot going on and can’t possible answer every email that hits a site like Gardening Gone Wild, I filed your photo for a later date when I would try again to reach you somehow and ask for your permission to paint it.
Fast forward a few months, I am at the Master Gardner Seminar in Kearny Mesa. I win a raffle and am allowed to choose my prize. I choose your book “Designing With Succulents”.
We met when I went to collect my prize and you signed my book for me. We talked about my living near Julian and the issues of growing many of the succulents I love. Your insights on how I might grow some of my favorite plants in my climate were very helpful. I enjoyed talking to you and am enjoying your wonderful book.
Fast forward again to today. I’m reading your email and see your painting. A light goes on. The painting, the name, I immediately go to my file of your photo of the Matiliha in a vase with a diagonal shadow in the foreground. There it is it’s you! I am immediately transported back to the day we actually met.
You may not remember me, as I know you had a lot going on that day but I hope my story brings you a smile like it has me. I also am hoping to get to talk with you again sometime in the future about shared passions, growing things and painting things.
My giveaways choices are,
1) Your original watercolor and book
2) The container workshop, for my Mom’s husband who is a succulent enthusiast and myself. (and your book)
3) Your greeting cards and book.
I wouldn’t be unhappy with the other gifts either, the bouquet and mug but my first choices are listed above.
And I would love to see your paintings hanging in the San Diego Watercolor Society, they are award winners!
Best of luck to you and I do hope that our paths cross again!
Peace,
Coko Brown

Rita Erickson May 24, 2013, 9:24 am

Since I don’t live near San Diego and yet I love, love, love succulents–it may surprise you to know what I most want is the cards, your book, and access to the online idea library. Why: I mat and frame beautiful cards and put them in rotating seasonal displays. I stage them wih decorating accessories (including plants and flowers) which highlight or reinforce their color themes, and hang them or put them in places where you are both surprised to see them and you can linger and enjoy them. The color pallettes are both cool and ethereal, w has a lifting impact on people’s moods.

The book–because books open new doors and windows–often in areas you would not be able to anticipate.

Access to the online library–I live in Zone 4–8000 feet in the Rockies. I have a solarium which has many succulents. I try to replicate ecosystems inside my solarium, and I would love to see you many creations.

Jane Scott May 24, 2013, 9:27 am

Wow, what an awesome giveaway! Which would I prefer to win?? All of them. My first favorite would be the book. When my mother passed away I inherited some of her succulent plants, which I had never grown before. Seeing the things you do with them would be fantastic. Your artwork is gorgeous. Apparently you are very multitalented!

Sue Moran May 24, 2013, 9:31 am

I have Debra’s two other books and love them both and refer to them often and recommend them to friends. Our garden is going to be on our city’s garden tour the first Sunday in June, thanks to her inspiration. So I must have her new book as well! It sounds delightful. The watercolor she shows is fabulous! So beautiful! I’ve dabbled in watercolor and know how difficult the medium is. I’m terrible with containers and would greatly benefit from her class, and it’s been a while since we’ve driven down to San Diego, a favorite destination. Debra’s bouquet looks and sounds intriguing. I’ve not tried one yet. I must. I’d hope that having her greeting cards would inspire me to be a better correspondent! My husband would delight in the mug. He collects mugs and loves succulents and cacti. I’m an amateur photographer and spend hours each week taking and processing digital photos and enjoying fine photography on the Internet. Having access to Debra’s online photos would be fabulous and surely would inspire me to do more with my ever-growing excess of succulents! Definitely, I’m going to share Debra’s good work on Facebook and my budding blog. Love your idea of doing this contest! Thanks for considering my entry.

Inez May 24, 2013, 9:35 am

I Love Succulents. I would love any prize that includes succulents. I live in central florida, most anything grows here……………..

Norma McAfee May 24, 2013, 9:39 am

I would love to win the private container workshop for my small group of volunteers who make succulent dish gardens for Mission San Luis Rey in Oceanside. We sell the planters at the Mission’s Welcome Center, and all proceeds go to the Mission for restoration and maintenance efforts. All of us are amateurs, and over time our dish gardens have improved, but a workshop with Debra Baldwin would be just what our group needs to lift our creations from average to outstanding.
Also, my copy of “Succulents Simplified” arrived from Amazon with a torn cover, and I need another copy of the book.

Sherry May 24, 2013, 9:41 am

I’d love to be entered for the succulent bouquet. Have lived in Sa Diego (Ocean Beach) for 2 years now (after retiring from 25 years of teaching) and have really been having fun creating a succulent garden around my patio. It would be fun to see how this is put together, add to my collection and possibly give some away myself as gifts!

Sherry May 24, 2013, 9:42 am

By the way, I pinned the cover of the new book. I love browsing through Succulent Container Gardens and learning about succulents.

Sue May 24, 2013, 9:52 am

Your Succulents Simplified book would be great help for us getting a garden started in our dream retirement home in the San Diego. We have been keeping an eye on the listings via Redfin and Trulia, but alas our dream home west of I-5 seems to be a bit out or reach if we plan to have $ left creating our dream gardens. Maybe we should be considering Escondido too.
In the meantime I could be sipping my morning coffee here in Wisconsin in your beautiful mug while perusing the newest listings, maybe penning a few long overdue greeting cards on those gorgeious cards suggesting friends across the country contribute to that rapidly increasing uptick in sales on amazon.
A trip to southern CA to see a few home listings in person would be a great time for us to join you in Escondido for a workshop. Maybe you’d even share a few thoughts on areas to hunt in our quest to return to our home state for our “golden years”. And we could bring the finished container back to my mother-in-law back in LA area-the perfect gift for an avid gardener. Alas, if we don’t win the class, she’d love the gorgeous bouquet. (So would I, but I’d be able to create my own using your book for inspiration.)

Marcia Fife May 24, 2013, 9:55 am

Congratulations on your accomplishment. Your book on succulents has me drooling. I love your arrangements and gorgeous photographs and I would be happy with any of the gifts. The book is especially nice, providing many hours of pleasure and ideas, but I would also be most grateful for the gorgeous painting, a mug, or the cards and rosettes, as well. Thanking you in advance.

Jill May 24, 2013, 9:55 am

Where to start? I love your article and am excited to get a copy of your book! Which prize? Certainly the 2 hour workshop would be my first choice! I’d also LOVE the rosette bouquet and/or the greeting cards! I’m so happy you are in Escondido – I live in Fallbrook and can’t wait for June 7/8! I’ll be there!

Jessica Leath May 24, 2013, 10:19 am

I’d love the lesson but since I’m out of the area I’d love the book or watercolor. Absolutely gorgeous!

JoAnn Summers May 24, 2013, 10:39 am

Hi Debra,

I would love to win the two hour lesson with you on succulents. I need advice on how to grow these in pots. I had a beautiful big one (sorry don’t know the name) and now it is suffering with dark spots on the leaves. As you can see I am in need of the book in the worst way. I would of course be thrilled to win your beautiful watercolor. I have also dabbled in this media and am better at naming colors and techniques than at naming succulents.
A dear friend from Fallbrook sent me your link. So thankful.

JoAnn in Temecula

Hania Geremia May 24, 2013, 10:52 am

I have a lot of different succulents but
Don’t know how to plant Orr range them.
I live in Santa Barbara and the climate is similar to Escondidos
So your oak would help me put them together.

Kathleen May 24, 2013, 11:14 am

You, and you alone, have taken succulents to a whole new level as I found you maybe a year ago on the web. I’m now changing my whole front yard because of you. Then to hear you didn’t start with succelents, and to see where you are now! I too didn’t like them so much when I arrived in this country but now can’t get enough of them and the varity is endless. I’d love to have a one-on-one and hear more about you, as you work with succulents. How your life has evolved is super and great for any woman to see. Wish you all the success in the world with your new book. Did I mention my B-day was June 5th just in time to celebrate my winning!!!

Kellie Christensen May 24, 2013, 11:15 am

I would love the original watercolor with the book. Its beautiful and would look amazing in my kitchen. The postcards are beautiful too and I’ve been trying to send mail to friends more often so that would be great as well. Most of all I would love the book. I am not great with plants, I seem to kill them all, so I am hoping that succulents give me a little more love 🙂

Jerry Montante May 24, 2013, 11:18 am

Please submit my entry for the WATERCOLOR and SUCCULENTS SIMPLIFIED ! I love the way you portray succulents in your watercolors, especially the Agaves and another excellent resource for growing succulents , I am in !!!!! ( I also promoted the book on F.B.)

Mallory Lipert May 24, 2013, 11:42 am

What an awesome site you have! I was sent over from the site Succulents and Sunshine
🙂 The prizes I am interested in winning are 1, 3, 4, and 5. Keep up the awesome work!!!!!

Sara May 24, 2013, 11:50 am

Congrats!! That’s super exciting!! I found my way here via the Succulents & Sunshine blog 🙂 since I’m in Canada, I would love the painting/book (or even the mug), probably much easier to send a long distance! I’ve shared your book cover on my Pinterest as well! http://m.pinterest.com/pin/322007442077396144/

Sara

Ellie May 24, 2013, 11:56 am

Deborah, your books are fabulous!! They are very inspiring!! I would love the 2 hour workshop!
I would take my dear friend Roxanne who recently lost her mother to cancer. She is getting married in July and her mother left a large collection of succulents
that she was planning on using for
centerpieces. That would be awesome!

Jeannine Romero May 24, 2013, 12:08 pm

Well I am glad you suggested that I should mention more than one prize because it is hard to choose. Hmmm, first choice is a one on one class! Then after that it is kind of a toss up, the bouquet sounds like great fun and the watercolor and greeting cards look gorgeous! The book sounds great; best wishes on it success though I have no doubt it will be good.

Jenny Patterson May 24, 2013, 12:25 pm

Of course I would like the first prize! Who wouldn’t want an original painting AND the book! Plus I live 2000 miles away from CA, and would not be able to utilize the workshop. The other prizes are great too….

natalie May 24, 2013, 12:29 pm

I would love your watercolored mug w/ book (5) or the bouquet w/ book (3). Most of all I would like the book! I am fairly new to succulent gardening but i have been propagating like crazy lately and working on small arrangements. I really enjoy this new hobby and want to become more knowledgeable.

Congratulations on the book release. I have promoted it via Pinterest here: http://pinterest.com/pin/495255290242812760/

Happy Gardening!

Karen May 24, 2013, 12:30 pm

I would love to win the coffee mug! It is great and fits me perfectly! I think the event in Escondido looks great and will try and come out on Saturday!
Thanks so much, I’m really enjoying your site.

jess May 24, 2013, 12:35 pm

I found your site through Succulents and Sunshine and thought i absolutely HAD to enter this give away!!

As an artist I’m really super interested in owning some of your art and incidentally,I recently relocated after a divorce and having always gardened, living in a city now theres not much room to plant, succulents have proven to be VERY satisfying for my green thumb! I don’t know a terrible lot about them as ive only been doing it for less than a year but I know I could learn more from your book.

All of your give away items look wonderful. facebook has connected me with friends all over the world who I’m sure would enjoy a greetings card. Not to mention the family I left in florida to make my marriage work would enjoy hearing from me and together with those beautiful plants – I fancy they might think I’m growing and blooming just fine on my own and put some of their worries to rest.

I also gotta say, that coffee cup is SUPER cute. I drink a mad amount of coffee while I’m painting and I am very picky about what I drink it out of and I think it would look absolutely perfect in my art space.

I’m currently in maine so I can’t attend your workshop, but I would love to have a bouquette sent to me. I have very few succulents I’m working with currently and they were in rough shape when my soon to be ex husband sent them back to me so im sure i could make a wonderful new succulent garden with cuttings of your bouquette!

And if I got a copy of your book I know I could grow more beautiful succulents for the subjects of my paintings.

Congratulations on your book launch! I’m sharing it on facebook in the hopes that if I don’t get a copy of it from your give away maybe perhaps my family might take pity on me and buy it for my birthday this summer. I am jonesing for this book so hard. I had no idea succulents would be so addictive and i wanna learn more!

Lea Newton May 24, 2013, 12:36 pm

Would love the rosettes! One of my favorite things about succulents is that you can cut and grow so easily! I bought your Succulent Contain Gardens and read it cover to cover the day it arrived. LOVE how informative it is, with such beautiful pictures. What I love most is that I finally call myself a gardner with a green thumb! Succulents are practically fool proof and the perfect water wise plant for a southern california garden.

Melody May 24, 2013, 12:41 pm

Debra, when a good friend moved to Switzerland, she gifted me with several varieties of succulents – but none of her innate knowledge or skill with how to plant/arrange them! I love your watercolor, am drooling over the chance to read your book, would pinch myself if I received a succulent bouquet, and will cherish the thought of drinking my morning coffee from your beautiful mug. If I lived closer, I would jump at the chance for a personal class with you!

Ashley Soneson May 24, 2013, 12:43 pm

Hi! I was sent over from the Succulents & Sunshine blog! It would be wonderful to win the watercolor with your book, the pretty postcards with the book, the bouquet of rosettes with the book, or your fabulous design ideas with your book!! If I wasn’t in Denver, I’d be drooling over the class!!! Your blog is great and I sent it to a few friends who love succulents as well! Thanks!!

Bianca Romani May 24, 2013, 12:52 pm

of course, the private two hour workshop would be wonderful to win. Thanks, Bianca Romani

Margee Frey May 24, 2013, 12:53 pm

The two-hour workshop for me and a couple of my succulent-loving friends would be a dream come true, especially as I will be unable to attend the Succulent Celebration. I have
your books, but would love to learn from you in person. My containers never look quite like yours!

The watercolor is lovely, and I adore the mug. I would be ecstatic with any of these lovely prizes. Thank you for sharing.

Mary Merrell May 24, 2013, 12:53 pm

Hi Debra, I didn’t know you were an artist too. Love that painting. You should check out my facebook. I posted an arrangement I made with old bird of paradise blooms. I’m no floral arranger but I think it came out alright. I just loved those funny flowers, like bird people. Here’s a link. I learned sending links helps people out. https://www.facebook.com/mary.merrell.5?hc_location=stream

Thanks for the great ideas. Mary E. Merrell

AnneMarie Crake May 24, 2013, 12:55 pm

LOVE your newest book on Succulents! THIS IS THE WAY TO GO! I love to combine them with grasses in many of my home staging projects for our new real estate listings ~
Congratulations!

Mary Merrell May 24, 2013, 12:55 pm

OH, I’m supposed to say which prize. I like them all, but would love that painting. Great giveaway. Thanks. Mary E. Merrell

Vicky Kern May 24, 2013, 12:56 pm

I would love, love, love the lesson! I have heard you speak at the Del Mar Fairgrounds and I think that a session with two good friends and my sister, all of whom are passionate about succulents, would be so fun. I’m sure we would learn and accomplish so much! I have bought your container gardening book and just now liked your new book on Facebook. Thank you for all your educational efforts.

rainey May 24, 2013, 1:01 pm

LOVE your watercolor and bouquet! I’d love the workshop too but, alas!, I’m north of LA.

Donna Krebs May 24, 2013, 1:01 pm

I enjoy and use your book “Designing with Succulents” so I am looking forward to your new book. All of your gifts are wonderful and I would be thrilled to receive any one. I would especially enjoy the opportunity for a personal class with you.

Bonnie Barabas May 24, 2013, 1:02 pm

I am a landscaper designer in Santa Barbara but would love to make a weekend trip to lovely San Diego if I were to win the workshop. I would take my daughter who has been collecting succulents since she was just a wee tot. (Every trip to the nursery or home improvement store meant a little succulent for her :)) The mug is quite pretty too, but would probably get the most use of the book since I always include succulents in my garden designs.

Karen Hillegas May 24, 2013, 1:03 pm

Hi Debra!
Oh I just can’t decide! I love all of them! I didn’t even know you did the 4 person class! That’s what I would like! And I’ll buy your book too! Assume I need to sign up for the class?

Alice Lowe May 24, 2013, 1:04 pm

Debra – Congratulations on your new book – I’m eager to add it to my collection & to have the complete trilogy! You’ve been the mentor & muse of my own succulent gardening these past years – I was sure that you started producing these books just for me.

I would be happy with any of the prizes – it’s really the book that I’m excited about winning – though the coffee mug would probably become my constant companion.

And – dare I admit it – I’m not on Facebook or Twitter, I don’t even know what Pinterest is. But I do talk to people – you know, face to face – & when they seem my array of succulents, I tell them my secret – your books.

I can’t make the launch events in early June as I’ll be away but look forward to seeing you at one of your upcoming garden club or Hort Society appearances.

Linda Miller May 24, 2013, 1:07 pm

Debra:
I attended your talk at the Dos Valles Garden Club and bought one of your books. We have now started our succulent garden, planting a Palo Verde to provide the shade. We chose the Palo Verde tree based on the recommendation in your book. While I am waiting for the tree to grow, I will read your new book and plan and prepare for the succulent gardens underneath the Palo Verde trees.

I would love to have a succulent bouquet designed by you to give to my new to be daughter-in-law in time for the wedding . Our son and she will be marrying June 22nd. A succulent bouquet designed by you would be the highlight of the wedding.

Shanna Threndyle May 24, 2013, 1:10 pm

I love your Agave painting! Beautiful! I want one!

Mariam May 24, 2013, 1:11 pm

Congratulations on your new book. I would love to win the bouquet of a dozen succulents (and your new book), that’s a great idea, I never thought of making a bouquet, I just plant my succulents in bowls and in the ground.

Patty S. May 24, 2013, 1:14 pm

Hi Debra! What a fun giveaway! Of COURSE I’d love to have the 2 hour private workshop and bring all my girlfriends, how fun would that be! And second choice would be the mug and signed book. Thanks so much, and look forward to seeing you at the June 7 & 8th Succulent Celebration 🙂

Patty S.

Laura Balaoro May 24, 2013, 1:14 pm

Of course I would love to have anything from Debra Lee Baldwin. Your lovely bouquet is awesome (who know it may convince my son and his fiancee to go with succulents when then I bring home a bouquet from you). You are my hero you must know and I am learning so much from you. Although I made mention of your book many times with my groups and and the world, I just posted another comment on my timeline with your link of the Succulent Simplified. Thanks for being a friend. Love all your creativity. You are a true artist. Someday when I grow up maybe I can be like you. 🙂

linda johnson May 24, 2013, 1:14 pm

love drinking coffee while reading and planting succulents- would love to win the mug it is lovely

Susan May 24, 2013, 1:16 pm

Thanks for the opportunity Debra. Truly any of the give-aways would be great because what I am most interested in is your book! If I had to choose though it would be the bouquet or the painting.

Barbara Smiley May 24, 2013, 1:17 pm

I am coming down from Los Angeles to the Succulent Celebration and really looking forward to meeting you. Your first two books turned me on to succullents and now most of my garden has been transformed! The workshop sounds wonderful but so does the watercolor. Simply beautiful. Or the bouquet, more things to plant eventually. See you on the 7th and 8th!

Désirée May 24, 2013, 1:17 pm

Dear Debra,
First of all, THANK YOU, for sharing your wisdom and passion for succulents! I have enjoyed your books, blog, facebook page, and videos immensely. You have inspired me and taught me SO much. Thanks to you, I don’t hate living in the desert anymore!
I would love the bouquet, because you can never have enough plants, AND I have gotten several friends hooked on succulents now, with whom I would love to share those plants.
Can’t WAIT for your new book, it’s still on my wish-list, as I have a birthday coming up later this year 🙂
Again, thank you for all you do for us fellow plant lovers!

Pam May 24, 2013, 1:17 pm

Debra,

I have always loved succulents- even before they became so poplar- but have not been successful in growing them. After reading your blog I promptly went out and purchased 5 of the little darlings. As I sit and look at them each morning trying to figure out what to do with them, if they need water, if they look happy, I feel they are saying to me” Don’t be afraid of us, Debra says we are easy to care for”. Well, I would love your book so that I can learn not to be afraid of them. I would love the beautiful mug so I could sip my tea and I gaze upon them and would love love love your watercolor so that that it could keep my babies company and encourage me in my pursuit of growing succulents!!

Cid Young May 24, 2013, 1:19 pm

Debra,

Absolutely love you new book! Succulents, I am a newly found fan! So glad book made it before holiday weekend. Already have read a couple chapters and plan to be done by Tues. It’s about time someone came up w/ “user-friendly” guide to plants nature has enjoyed for thousands of years. Book really makes succulent success concievable and emminent. Would love an in, person tutorial/workshop (2). I have lots of family that could and soon will be succulent lovers too.

Leah May 24, 2013, 1:25 pm

I would love to win *any* of these prizes. Although I’m in Northern CA, a weekend trip to So Cal is always tempting, so I’d be happy to make the trip with my mom. I love the bouquets too, and a dozen cuttings to add to my garden would definitely be a fun prize to win! Thanks for the chance to win *any* of the prizes, and congratulations on your new book, which is on my list to read even if I don’t win a copy.

Enid Sherman May 24, 2013, 1:26 pm

Hi,
I have been a fan of yours for several years..heard you speak many times and started my own succulent garden because of your inspiration.
I just shared the news of your new book on my facebook page.
This contest is fun. Having one of your bouquets and a copy of the new book would be awesome.
Thank you,
Enid

Marilyn Guidroz May 24, 2013, 1:27 pm

Thank you Debra for all that you bring to our industry and the love of succulents is far from a fad. It is catching on like wildfire. Your personal appearances and your books are a great treasure. I am so looking forward to the Succulent Celebration and getting my hands on your new book. Hooray!
I would love and would use your greeting notecards. Not too many people actually sit down and hand write cards any more, but I still do! I love to send my clients thank you notes after a design project and these would be perfect.
Hope to see you really soon.
Marilyn

Julia Ferguson May 24, 2013, 1:27 pm

Oh two of my fav things, your art and your books! And AGAVES, I adore them. As I age I so need to simplify so knowing which succulents would work best with my basic abilities sounds perfect.

Truth is if I don’t win a book I will buy one because I genuinely have been wanting this book to hurry up and publish since you have been talking about it on Facebook. I wish you much continued success and hope to hear you speak at Roger’s Garden in July or drive down to the San Diego hort society meeting before then.

Much success with the book! Oh to be specific, if selected I would be stoked to win the Agave watercolor and book option. Heck the book the book the book in any combo would be a brilliant happy addition to my library where it would never lay on the shelf gathering dust but always be open somewhere providing inspiration and new ideas.

Hugs, Julia from the OC, California

Mary May 24, 2013, 1:27 pm

Wow, I am so excited about the new book. I ordered it online weeks ago and can’t wait to get it. I think my first choice would be lesson. I am right in the middle of my learning curve as a budding succulent fanatic. I am redoing my whole yard, now in the soil amendment phase. I could use the education! Second, I would love the watercolor. The colors are beautiful! The bouquet would be great too. I have spots in my yard for them. I never seem to win anything, so I will remain cautiously optimistic (and keep my fingers crossed!)

Reuben Munoz May 24, 2013, 1:28 pm

Debra, congrats on the new book! … Your book ‘Succulent Container Gardens’ has been a catalyst for my own succulent adventures … But it’s also fueled the juicy-leafed adventures of my blog readers as well! My review of that book’s been viewed about 5,000 times (and counting) and I can’t wait to review the new one, too. Were I to win a prize I’d love the container garden archive … I’m crazed over the idea of so much inspiration in one place. Thanks, Reuben

Karen M May 24, 2013, 1:28 pm

Hi Debra, I just removed all of the lawn on my property and have replaced it with succulents and ornamental grasses as well as a few native, drought tolerant plants and trees. I would love to win the bouquet of succulents. I could enjoy its beauty and then deconstruct it and place the little ones in my new garden and watch them grow, and because I love bringing a gift from my garden when visiting friends your book would be perfect to help me choose the best succulents for creating special gifts. Finally the beautiful watercolor would be a perfect compliment to my home. I would put it near my front door so it ties my home and garden together.

Julia Ferguson May 24, 2013, 1:28 pm

oh PS. I will twitter, pin and facebook the book cover if for no other reason than to just “share the love”. Hugs again, Julia

Carol Haverty May 24, 2013, 1:30 pm

Paige May 24, 2013, 1:31 pm

Debra,

I’ve followed your design work, gifted your calendar, and enjoyed hearing you speak at garden expos in San Francisco. I am going through succulent withdrawal now that I’ve moved to New England and could really use the succulent greeting cards as a pick me up.

Stonecrop just isn’t doing it for me!

Judith Billson May 24, 2013, 1:31 pm

I love Debra Lee Baldwin’s work! I have all your books, and I would love to win the new book! I have share this link on my facebook page. I would be happy to win any of the selections!

April Horton May 24, 2013, 1:32 pm

I heard about this give away from Sweetstuff’s Sassy Succulents. I would absolutely love the (1) An original watercolor by me of an agave, 9-by-12, unframed. You’ll also receive a signed and personalized copy of Succulents Simplified prize. Not only is the painting amazing, I am just now becoming a Succulent addict thanks to Sweetstuff’s Sassy Succulents as she is a friend. I am learning so much. I have started small with 7 different types and I love them all as they have different characteristics. The painting would inspire me even more and the book would be most helpful.

Thank you,
April Horton (Gigli)

Karen S May 24, 2013, 1:36 pm

Hi Debra,

Hi, Debra!
Congratulations on the publication of your new book, which I received from Amazon last week. I work with succulents at Quail Gardens (SDBG), and I would like the bouquet of succulents so that when it’s time to retire the bouquet, I will be able to plant the succulents and enjoy them for many years. I will see you on June 7 at Waterwise Botanicals.

Shari Bonnin May 24, 2013, 1:50 pm

I would like nothing more than a private 2 hours workshop. I’m sure I could find a friend or 2 to come as well. Thanks.

Amy Kramer May 24, 2013, 1:50 pm

Debra…you are so amazing, I’m so happy to have found you! Succulents are my passion…I make them as gifts for people, and have them all over my yard. I’d love the mug and a copy of your book….I will just buy it otherwise! 🙂 Thank you for doing what you do and for sharing it with all of us! Happy Memorial Day…Amy K. in Vista, CA.

K. Sanchez May 24, 2013, 1:55 pm

Hi Debra!

I own your other books which have served me well as I’ve designed my succulent garden on the coast in Northern California. I can’t wait to get my hands on your new book.

I’d love to win the bouquet of a dozen succulent rosettes and a personalized copy of Succulents Simplified. If I don’t win that, the mug illustrated with your watercolor of a graptopetalum, from your online store, plus a signed and personalized copy of Succulents Simplified would also make my day.

All the best,

K. Sanchez

Hi Debra, I’ve been mentoring a young succulent designer who will be flying from Seattle to the show just to meet you and learn more. She has also been speaking to garden clubs about her succulent passion and projects. Her name is Katie Christianson and if I win anything, can you give it to her as she will be attending? Your new book looks great!
Keep growing, Marianne Binetti

Hi Debra
I have enjoyed your last book and am looking forward to this new one. Since Oasis is one of my favorite nurseries, I’d choose a private lesson with you there as my first choice. When I visit from Chico in northern calif. I love to bring home their wonderful succulents. And of course I’d invite along my best friends to share the experience. Second choice would be your watercolor–love the colors. Love to follow your blog and videos on u tube. You’ve taught me a lot from them.

Jan Brider May 24, 2013, 2:20 pm

Can’t wait to see you on the 7th at Waterwise! Doing my new back yard with Succulents and using many of your ideas. I’d love to win the bouquet of a dozen succulent rosettes and a personalized copy of Succulents Simplified.

Dianne Unterbrink May 24, 2013, 2:21 pm

I found out about you and your beautiful website thru Succulents & Sunshine. I recently found all this info. about the plant I love best – succulents. I’ve admired them and raised them for years and now have discovered all these wonderful ideas on ways to use them in decorating my home. I’m so excited and overwhelmed. I don’t know which idea to start with first.
I love your painting and also your books. I have learned alot of great information about taking better care of my plants and also different ways to propogate and use them in various ways. It’s been wonderful and you have a definite gift for succulents.
I would be happy to win anything at all. I’d hate to have to choose – I think I’ll let you do that for me. I’ll take the last item, the favorite item, or any item at all. Exciting to think I could have a picture that was painted by you personally. Wow!!
Thanks for all you do and the ways you’ve helped me with my care of succulents. We (plants and I both) are very happy for having had your insight and help. – Dianne

Lorna Riley May 24, 2013, 2:26 pm

I’m SO grateful for your offer so when I see a good thing, I like to share it. I’ve sent out a message to my 1,500 Facebook friends, Tweeted, pinned on Pinterest, and have invited 4 people to your June workshop–which I’m so excited about attending. I’ve already bought “Designing with Succulents” and read through it every day. Yesterday I was running around local nurseries with it showing pictures to customers and nursery owners alike. (I feel like Paul Revere!) We’re converting our 5 acres into water-wise plants, down to every container! This will be my first real hobby as my doctor has recommended stress-free gardening to regain my wellness. I would be eternally grateful to have two hours with you for the container session so that I can get off to the right start. Friends have given me cuttings and I’m managing to mangle them already. This is 911 calling! We face a big project and I’d love your formidable expertise to get off on the right foot.
Looking forward to meeting you!
Lorna Riley

Nereida Sales Naves Alves May 24, 2013, 2:31 pm

Obrigada, Nereida

Natalie May 24, 2013, 2:35 pm

I love the way you portray my very favorite plant form–Succulents. I have both of your other

books and would love to win any prize that includes the new one. I can’t wait to see it! I

purchased your second book at one of your presentations which I enjoyed so very much,

but now that i’m 91 years old I stay pretty close to my home here in Alpine. Keep writing

your beautiful books!!!!!!!

Elizabeth Mateus May 24, 2013, 2:38 pm

I was guided to your blog by Sweetstuff’s Sassy Succulents. I’m new to succulents and only recently learned about your books, so I’m really anxious to get them and absorb all the knowledge. While the container workshop would be my first choice, I’m in Florida, so getting there would be a bit of a problem. 🙂 The bouquet of a dozen succulent rosettes would give me a chance to add to my little collection, and they would be such wonderful additions! I could brag to my friends that they’re from Debra Lee Baldwin, the Martha Stewart of Succulents! So that would be my choice, although any of the other selections would be exciting as well. I’m going to post right now a pic of your new book on FB, Twitter and Pinterest. Congratulations on its success!

Happy gardening!
Elizabeth Mateus

Bianca T. May 24, 2013, 2:39 pm

Hello and thanks for the opportunity to win such fabulous stuff! I found out about the giveaway through Succulents and Sunshine. If I win, I’d love any of the prizes, but my favorite would be the bouquet (#3), followed by the greeting cards (#4) and the mug (#5). Of course my absolute tops would be the private workshop, but I live in New Jersey, so that won’t work (sad face). Have a wonderful Memorial Day Holiday!

Judy Tillson May 24, 2013, 2:39 pm

Congratulations on an incredible book. If I’m a lucky winner I’d love to have your original watercolor, or if that’s not available, the coffee mug. And because I already have your book (& learning so much from it!), I know just who I will gift the second copy to. Thanks for all your hard work in producing this book, it’s terrific!

Katie Christensen May 24, 2013, 2:41 pm

I will be at the event on the 7th and 8th. Prizes number one or four would be so nice! I’d like any of them really because the main one I’d like is your book. I’ve learned so much from tutorials on YouTube I could only imagine what your book could do for me! Thanks Debra and maybe I will see you in Escondido!!

Craig May 24, 2013, 2:42 pm

Hi DLB,

Let me just say that I love gardening with succulents! However, living in Delaware does not make it easy! Then I discovered your Succulent Container Gardens book and the rest is history. I’ve learned so much about the variety of plants available and ideas on how to combine them into nifty looking arrangements. I spend many a weekend searching the local establishments for plants I can stuff into the various containers I’ve acquired. Also watching YouTubes videos you’ve done to learn more. Bottom line is…I can’t get enough!
Thanks Debra for the inspiration! Thanks to Sweetstuff’s Sassy Succulents for bringing this little “Giveaway” to my attention. I don’t drink coffee or live out West but greeting cards would be a great way to promote succulent gardening to friends and family.

All the best,
Craig

PS Whether I win or not, getting the new book is only a matter of time!

Cat May 24, 2013, 2:47 pm

I’m Greenhouse/Propagation Chair with the Dos Valles Garden Club in Valley Center (can you say LOCAL!) where we have 2 of your books in our library and would love to add your new one.

I would choose the workshop and bring some of my fellow garden clubbers. We already make succulent dish gardens for our Plant Sales and would enjoy learning how to do it even BETTER from YOU.

My other choice would be the beautiful mug. I have a mug collection we use at our workshops (after I weaned us off foam cups) and it would be SUCH a beautiful AND meaningful addition.

Lynne Bonino May 24, 2013, 2:47 pm

Hi, Debra,

Since I am fairly new at succulent gardening I have purchased all three of your books & they have really helped me in the growing, planting & propagating succulents. This last book is especially helpful as we have a
12 year old granddaughter who is also interested in growing succulents and your book(s) are helping me to help her.

Last year I was fortunate to meet you @Succulent Gardens in Castroville and enjoyed your lesson(s) there.

If I were to win any of the gifts you are giving away it would wonderful to win the bouquet, #3. What a thrill to receive more to plant!!! Our patio will be all succulents soon I hope.

Thanx for all your expertise which you are sharing!

Good luck with the new book.

Very sincerely,

Lynne

Bernadette Omote May 24, 2013, 2:52 pm

I would LOVE the rosettes bouquet! I am building my succulent garden and these would be a wonderful addition. I am getting pretty OCD about my succulents and have noticed the random sprinklings of dirt on the leaves caused by animal friends. It brings me total joy to tend to them. Looking forward to reading the new book!

Fran May 24, 2013, 2:55 pm

I’d love to win your book- After years of savings I finally purchased a townhome. I purchased roses for my patio, but with the watering deadheading, spraying and pruneing it became too much for a busy working single mom-shortly after I discovered succulents I found your books! I love the photos. I’ve learned so much about design, color, arrangements and of cousrse the plants themselves. Thanks for the wonderful books! Please pick me!

Nancy T. May 24, 2013, 2:58 pm

Two years ago I saw you speak on succulents here in southern Orange County. Loved the presentation and what a wonderful library of pics. Thank you for all the info and your book. All the prizes are great. Any one of them would make me very happy since you’re a wonderful artist and I love succulents.

Hoping to make it down for the Succulent Celebration. Really looking forward to your new book. Thanks again. Nancy

Shelli Bettencourt May 24, 2013, 2:59 pm

Congrat Debra, on your success. I saw you at Robin’s extravaganza in Mosslanding. Everything you do is wonderful. I especially appreciate the before and after garden projects in your garden. I would love the coffee mug to drink my coffee in the mornings. But the bouquet looks lovely, and the watercolor would look great on my wall. Anything would be amazing. Thanks for doing this!

Renee Collacino May 24, 2013, 2:59 pm

Having recenlty planted my first succulent container garden last weekend, the container workshop would be very useful in helping me plan my many future succulent container gardens!

The coffee cup would be a welcome prize as my office cup is cracking. Hands down, the Succulents Simplified book is the best prize on the list! I’m sure it will do very well given your expertise and talent with succulents!

All the best,
Renee

Lisa Madison May 24, 2013, 3:05 pm

I would love the 7 cards! I think they are beautiful.
I just planted my first succulent garden about 6 months ago and most plants are doing well. I am a florist, but have just discovered the array of succulents and I find them to be so beautiful 🙂

Diana Clark May 24, 2013, 3:05 pm

I literally gasped when I saw your agave watercolor, so it’s safe to say I would be honored to win and display it as part of my collection of art by local artists, I wish it were possible to attach a photo of my library so you could see for yourself how completely happy your agave would be living next to my larger painting of beavertail cactus done by Rosarito Beach artist Judith Esparza in an interestingly similar, yet not identical, style. I spend more hours in that room than anywhere else and can tell you without reservation that my spirits could not help but be high if your stunning watercolor were in my life on a daily basis. The vibrant colors, scale, proportions, and subject matter all resonate with me.

Your bouquet of a dozen succulent rosettes is another treasure I would love to win. Why? Because I’m mad for succulents and subscribe to the theory that, sometimes, too much just isn’t enough. Maybe all the time, if I were to be brutally honest. I’m itching to enjoy the bouquet and then separate it into a dozen plants to enjoy for years to come. It’s like the prize that keeps on giving! Plus, I have a dozen really cool containers just waiting to be planted, and your rosettes would be just right.

Not to sound greedy, but … well, I *am* greedy when it comes to winning a copy of “Succulents Simplified” along with the other prizes. I already have a copy but would love a signed one to give to my daughter, who lives amongst her succulent collection in Northern California. (She has your other two books, and they are well-worn.)

Whether I’m a lucky winner or not, I will see you at Waterwise on June 7 – 8. Thank you for running this contest and giving all of us fans a little thrill at the prospect of winning!

Terry Seaburg May 24, 2013, 3:09 pm

I have copies of your first two books and refer to them quite often. My front yard has several succulent plants and I would like to add more and create a more coordinated garden of succulents, therefore I am interested your prize of a class in creating a succulent garden or the rosettes of succulents prize. Thank you for your expertise.

Larry Quezada May 24, 2013, 3:10 pm

Would love to add your watercolor to my patio to compliment my cactus & succulent plantings. The colors are soothing gives you warm feel ….

Susan Clark May 24, 2013, 3:21 pm

Since I live north of San Francisco I would like an easy to mail prize, the notecards (I still enjoy sending out notes) or the mug.
I have repinned the book cover to my garden board on Pinterest.
Sincerely,
Susan

D. Pope May 24, 2013, 3:24 pm

Really would like a signed copy of your latest book! So, if I must choose which giveaway gift I’d like the most it would be #1 or 2 or 3…….4, 5 or 6 would be very nice also!
I’ve learned so much from you books and video’s. I appreciate the way you share information about succulents. It’s great fun checking out nurseries you’ve recommend and trying the different ways to use these great plants. Continued success.
D

Deb McGee May 24, 2013, 3:27 pm

I would be delighted to win the 7 succulent greeting cards and signed, personalized book copy.

I buried my 85-year old mother today and was overwhelmed by her numerous friends who attended the funeral, including her friend who mom was maid of honor for at her wedding.

I have numerous thank you notes to write and would enjoying sending them on these cards.

Regards,

I have attended one of your workshops in Southern California and made a succulent dish, which I really love, and its doing beautifully. I have made many more for others to enjoy too. I am signed up for the upcoming classes and can’t wait. I would love the painting, or the succulent rosettes. Thank you and look forward to the upcoming workshops in Escondido.

I was directed here from Sweetstuff’s page. I love your books and have yet to get your new one. I would love to read it. I wish I was close enough to take the class from you. All of your prizes are delightful. I would most like the is the water color but really the book and design pictures are my highest interest. Succulents is a hobby I share with my 14 year old son. It gives us some time together being creative when most teenagers are off being crazy. i know he would love to read your book as well. I am posting on facebook as well a twitter. Thank you so much for your great ideas and shared knowledge. Your books are a joy to read.

Hi there!
Congratulations on your new book! I work at a library, and I just loved your 2 previous books. Every time I flipped a page, I couldn’t help but let out a, “Oh, that’s gorgeous.” lol. You better believe, we’re going to get your 3rd book for our collection! Although I would absolutely enjoy attending your workshop, I unfortunately, would be unable to travel to California to attend. I live in south Texas. 🙁 But, I would equally enjoy having a bouquet or any artwork made by Debra Lee Baldwin! I just discovered the wonderful world of succulents a few months ago. I have fallen in love! Finally, I can have a beautiful garden despite my “black thumb.” Looking at my little succulent garden everyday makes me HAPPY! Thank you so much for your books and your youtube videos! Also, thank you to Candice Suter of Sweetstuff’s Sassy Succulents for letting me know about this giveaway!

Bracey May 24, 2013, 3:43 pm

The mug is awfully pretty and I’d love one or better yet, two of those. The link to the ideas pages sounds intriguing as well. I’m using more and more succulents in the ground here in San Jose. Some do very very well and others don’t. Aeoniums, aloes and agaves are good in our area but some euphorbias don’t like the below 40F we get sometime. Already have all your books which are terrific.

Jenny Jones May 24, 2013, 3:49 pm

I was sent on over here by Sweetstuffs Sassy Succulents. I am a HUGE succulent lover! And can not wait to get your new book! Any of the giveaways I would be MORE than happy with and appreciate. But I’d say firstly I’d LOVE the watercolor print( it would look BEAUTIFUL in my livingroom), next the succulent bouquet would be thoroughly enjoyed and then replanted, or the greeting cards would probably be framed rather than sent :), OR I could come on down to SD for a vacation and bring a few succulent loving friends along and we would have a BLAST!!! or the beautiful mug to enjoy my tea in whilst sitting in my garden…Thank you for the amazing giveaway!

Oh I also shared on Pinterest AND Facebook!!!

Tammy May 24, 2013, 3:53 pm

What a fun give away! Can’t wait to see your book-better yet to win one. I would also love one of your succulent paintings or notecards or mug or bouquet. They are all beautiful. We used to live in Rancho Bernardo, but now we live in Utah so I will have to pass on the class.

Amy Jarratt May 24, 2013, 3:57 pm

I love succulents & would love to win the book, notecards or mugs. Thank you so much for this giveaway.

Coleen Deaver May 24, 2013, 3:58 pm

After gaining a treasure trove of knowledge from your first book, I am eager for your second book, Succulents Simplified. (Insert hand clapping in anticipation) Now for
the “Wish List”…..The two hour work shop with the one and only Debra (No…Duh!,
fabulous) Then the mug for my daily coffee while I am reading your book. Your
new book is posted on my Pinterest site under succulents. Oh heck, Ill take any
thing and will be very grateful.

I think succulents are nature’s most amazing artistry and you certainly help her along with your creativity and skill. I would love to have the mug and the signed personalized book, as well as the link to the online photo library. If I were closer I would also love the workshop with you or the bouquet.

Rebecca May 24, 2013, 4:02 pm

I would LOVE a copy of your book….and as I am just taking my first steps with succulents I would choose your third offering – the bouquet that will become plantable cuttings. So nice of you to offer this giveaway!

shirley moffs May 24, 2013, 4:03 pm

i just submitted a request for the mug and the personalized signed book and forgot to mention I linked the book on my facebook page. oops.

Kimberly May 24, 2013, 4:04 pm

I love the idea of (3) A bouquet of a dozen succulent rosettes, I would give them to my mom. Her 60th is coming up, and I have a bunch planned, but that would be the icing, because I buy her a lot of succulents, she grew up with her gram growing lots of hen and chicks.

But I also want to be selfish and tell you that watercolor is fantastic. I would be thrilled to hang it in my kitchen to brighten it up, since I had to move to a junior one bedroom apartment and downsize my crazy huge container garden 🙁 I even lost my kitchen window, where I kept a ton of succulents 🙁

katherine May 24, 2013, 4:07 pm

Wow! What a great giveaway!!! Prizes 1,4,5,6 only due to the fact I live in Texas and can’t enjoy 2 or 3. I have always enjoyed your style and ideas and would love any of the prizes!!!!

Adam May 24, 2013, 4:17 pm

You’re so talented! My first choice prize is the two-hour private container workshop and signed book; it seems like it would be a really unique and great experience! We live about an hour north of Escondido.
My second choice is the original watercolor and signed, personalized copy of Succulents Simplified. I gave my wife a portable set of watercolors as a wedding gift this past New Year’s Eve, as she loves painting. We were lucky enough to travel around the caribbean on our honeymoon and she was able to creatively immortalize those memories with that set. She even got me to paint a bit 🙂

Michael Romero May 24, 2013, 4:19 pm

I would love to have the Agave original watercolor painted by you.
congratulations on the new book and thank you for including us in it.

Michelle B May 24, 2013, 4:20 pm

Everything is so gorgeous! I would love to win the watercolor painting, notecards, or mug!! I found out about you from Succulents and Sunshine 🙂 Thank you for the giveaway!

CC May 24, 2013, 4:22 pm

sent over here by: http://www.sweetstuffssassysucculents.com

I would like 1, 3,4,5 (California’s a bit too far away, I’m afraid!)

Mary Lou James May 24, 2013, 4:27 pm

Since I have your other two signed books, it is only fitting I NEED Succulents Simplified!

Being the Matriarch of the family, it is my job to teach my daughters-in-law how to enjoy

the fine art of Succulents ( you know, like stick em in the ground and let ’em grow! ,shhh..

they think I have talent and a really green thumb)

I would be delighted with any/all of the gifts as long as they are attached to a signed

copy of the book, I do love the Bouquet of Succulent Rosettes.

Joyce May 24, 2013, 4:32 pm

love all the work you do

Bonnie Price May 24, 2013, 4:34 pm

How to choose, how to choose!! Everything you do is exquisite. I love the watercolor, but if I had my druthers, I’d come to San Diego with three very lucky friends. I’m in Whittier, and have only within the last year realized the great value of succulents in our semi-arid climate. Your website and videos completely charm me, and my container compositions based on your principles have garnered me a number of compliments!

I’m thrilled about your Succulents Simplified, and was very happy to see that it has been translated into French. I’ll be travelling to France in the first three weeks in June (and so will miss the celebration on June 6-7; otherwise I would be there in a heartbeat. I’m considering purchasing the French version for a gift, as Jean-Paul (our host in the Dordogne region) received his master gardener training in Northern California, and is eager to return to California. I would like to introduce him to your gorgeous designs when he comes.

And thank you for your sharing watercolor techniques in videos. You are such a generous gardener. Where you walk, beauty follows!

Bonnie

LORI PULLMAN May 24, 2013, 4:34 pm

Debra —
I would any of your prizes– all are terrific, however if I could pick just one the one-on-one with you would be fabulous.
Why should you choose me:First, I am an instructor in landscape architecture, architecture and urban planning at 4 schools in southern California. I teach students about design. I find succulents and cacti are the most wonderful and frustrating medium for design.
Second, I believe that anyone with a six figure income can change their lawn to a drought tolerant beautiful yard , but what about someone that doesn’t have that income. What do blue-collar people do to change their yards. If I could learn more about how to use succulents and cacti, as well as adapted plants for Southern California I think I could help people make those big changes in their home.
Third, we have a grand time and my friend are way fun.

Lastly, any of your prizes would be perfect.
Thank you for offering these prizes.

Lori

Stacey May 24, 2013, 4:46 pm

This looks like a great book just as the others are wonderful! I would love to win a copy and the beautiful note cards! I am an old fashion gal and still treasure the art of hand written letters to family and friends. Many are unaware how beautiful succulents are!

Krista Mills May 24, 2013, 5:24 pm

I can’t wait until your new book comes out! The last two were two of the best succulent resources I have EVER read! I have learned so much and have become empowered to improve my own garden and add even more to my existing knowledge of these fabulous plants. Thanks!

Karen Hay May 24, 2013, 5:25 pm

Hi Deb, I absolutely love your work I just wish you were closer to where I live here in Australia. Have you ever visited Aust. before? I’m sure there would be many over here that would love to meet you and do some of your workshops. I understand if your give away promotion does not extend to us Succulent lovers Downunder but I just thought id join in the comments anyway. thankyou so much for the opportunity to blog with you. I wish you luck and good fortune in the future.

Kathy Ryan May 24, 2013, 5:31 pm

I found your website through Sunshine &Succulents. I have just started propagating succulents and am hooked! You all are inspiring me! If I win I would the succulents bouquet as I am trying to collect and propagate different kinds and colors. Thank you!

Edith isaacs May 24, 2013, 5:38 pm

I’d love the mug and the book. im thinking the mug would make a fantastic pot for a cute succulent.

Love your books an YouTube videos! They’re so Helpful and Inspiring! Thank you.

Claudia D'Attellis May 24, 2013, 5:40 pm

I’m not picky because I never win anything so it’s all a blessing if I win! But if I had to pick a prize, either #4 or #5 would be awesome!! Also I am a big fan of succulents and have a few in my home collection.
I am also sharing your book cover on my Facebook page to help spread the word! Jah-Bless!!

Susan May 24, 2013, 5:50 pm

Hello Debra,

I’m very excited to attend your seminar at Waterwise. I’ve joked for a long time that my thumb hasn’t turned green yet.

My goal is to replace my lawn with succulents, a path and a few large rocks; and I desperately need help.

What I’d like for my prize is the 2 hr private workshop, or the watercolor with the book or the mug with the book.

I pinned your article on Pinterest: http://pinterest.com/pin/317081629984958389/.

Thanks so much for your inspiration.

Pam Mallory May 24, 2013, 5:53 pm

I would love to win gift #3….the bouquet of succulent rosettes and your new book! I attended your talk at the SF garden show and really got excited about trying some succulents in my garden. I can’t come to the San Diego area, but this gift would be great in San Jose, too. I will keep my fingers crossed that I win!

Tami McColl May 24, 2013, 6:00 pm

So thrilled I was introduced to succulents and your work and books. If I were to win, I would enjoy the rosette bouquet.

Please visit Fresno’s very own Succulent Shack. I know the owners would *flip* at the opportunity of having you hold a workshop here.

Thank you for sharing your gift with so many.

Sincerely,
Tami McColl
Clovis, Ca

Rita May 24, 2013, 6:09 pm

I love succulents. But I live I. Canada so I am limited to what I can keep in my garden over winter. I am trying various types of winter-hardy cacti but they are to find. Semper vivum are great and I have quite a few. I would to win your book Succulents Simplified as well as the water colour. And of course once I win I will really look forward to be able to access the online photos of Succulents in Containers.

Shirley Kost May 24, 2013, 6:13 pm

Debra,

You know how much I love your work and that I already have your book! But I can’t resist an opportunity for more of your wonderful artwork, in any form! I would like most, the Bouquet, as I can never get enough succulents to work with!! I would share another book with my Grand-daughter, so the younger generation can inspire future generations! You have insprired me for years and will for many more, I am sure! I will see you at the Succulent Celebration and I did post on Facebook too!

Helen May 24, 2013, 6:17 pm

Thank you for providing such a wonderful opportunity for all your fans! I have to confess I’ve been a fan of succulents for many years, but only just started learning how well they can be applied to creative and crafty endeavors!

In fact, it’s not just myself that enjoys succulents, my mom and I both really enjoy them, and are planning a crafty succulent get together to make some crafts based on your clever projects!

How wonderful would it be to have your new book to help us get it right the first time around? I would love to be able to hand over a lovely succulent bouquet to my mo as I arrive for our crafty succulent get together, and then share with her the lovely crafty ideas inside the book! But even though that would be nice, all of these prizes are wonderful!

Please consider my mom and I as recipients of one of your prizes! But above all, thanks so much for publishing such a wonderful collection of succulent books!

Also, I heard about this giveaway from Sweetstuff’s Sassy Succulents Blog.

Mary Brummitt May 24, 2013, 6:23 pm

Looking forward to Succulents Simplified, certainly. As a gift, I’d dearly love to bring 3 gardening friends to a two-hour private workshop. Oh, my!

Dawn May 24, 2013, 6:28 pm

I’d love a mug . . . because it’s so pretty! . . . and because Debra and Succulent Container Gardens are the whole entire reason I got hooked on succulents and cacti in the first place. I saw that book and I had to have it. Yes it’s all her fault (and how grateful I am).

Marcia May 24, 2013, 6:33 pm

I would love a copy of your book. I would love to be a participant in one of your classes! My hobby is container gardening, primarily with succulents. I have now begun making smaller containers but fall in love with each one and find it SO HARD to give them away as gifts. (Great potential to be a hoarder!) I could learn a lot from you!! Thanks for the chance to win and I really enjoy your blog and FB posts.

Eileen Neveu May 24, 2013, 6:35 pm

Debra:

Congratulations on your new book. Can’t wait to get a copy (already have container gardens) a neighbor’s daughter was getting married and she mentioned that she was having succulent bouquet. I thought that was really interesting and was interested to see how they were made. So I guess I would have to say that my first choice would be your two hour class/along with the bouquet at second.

Kenneth Quinn May 24, 2013, 6:35 pm

What I would like most is the watercolor. As much as I enjoy live plants – and I do enjoy quite a bit of success growing them – it is nice to have something of great beauty that does not have to be watered, needs no bright light, and never needs repotting! The mug would also be wonderful, and it goes without saying that the book would be a true blessing – especially to a confirmed bibliophile like myself! I am far from California, so the workshop is impossible, and the bouquets would be somewhat difficult to arrange because of inspection laws.

I am a member of the local Master Gardener association, and thanks to your previous book on succulent container gardens I have constructed dish gardens that have sold very well at our annual plant sales. I hope to find information and ideas in your new book that will inspire me to come up with new creations for future sale.

Pam Bayer May 24, 2013, 6:51 pm

This is so hard. I love all of your books, watercolors are my favorite art medium, and I’m hooked on both succulents and morning coffee. Getting a mug with a copy of the new book would be be a real score.

Nancy Abplanalp May 24, 2013, 6:54 pm

Thank you for all of the wonderful tips and advice you share. Being a Kindle reader, I rarely buy books, but I’m looking forward to the arrival of your book. I want to hold it in my hands and savor it.

I work two jobs – I’m a teacher and a professional dog trainer. This leaves me very little time to garden, which makes me love my succulents all the more. When I am forced to ignore them, they don’t die, and when I have time to indulge them, they flourish.

I will gratefully and proudly accept any prize that I win, though I cannot make it to Escondido. Looking at the selection above makes me very happy – you are a treasure and to win anything would be such a delight.
Nancy

Sandra Collett May 24, 2013, 7:15 pm

I have your Designing with Succulents but I would love to have your new book.

Sandra Collett May 24, 2013, 7:16 pm

I would love the lesson or the painting.

Sara Patterson May 24, 2013, 7:46 pm

Congratulations!!! I would LOVE a copy of your new book. Signed, of course. Bouqet of rosettes, watercolor, mugs, greeting cards. I have your download of the different succulents and I LOVE IT. Keep up the good work and keep sharing. You are incredible!
Sara

Priscilla Purinton May 24, 2013, 7:51 pm

I have your earlier books and would be thrilled to have a signed copy of your new one. I posted the book cover on my Facebook page with a hint for my birthday in case I don’t win, and if no one takes the hint, I’ll buy it for myself! The best prize for me is the succulent bouquet for several reasons…
1. It’s a cool new craft I’ve never seen
2. I love succulents
3. My favorite plants have connections to people. How fun to have a connection to you!

Jelena May 24, 2013, 7:51 pm

Hi Debra, very happy about your new book. Looking toward adding it to my colection. You changed our front of the house. We are so happy that is all succulents, but we have so much yet to learn.Love to have any of your prices.Mug would make me think of you and your talents. Good work Debra! Love, Jelena and Ivan

Doris Thompson May 24, 2013, 7:52 pm

Debra – your online photo album is absolute eye candy to me. I peruse it often for inspiration. And I have your Designing with Succulents book, also fabulous for inspiration and information. I would be thrilled to have a signed copy of your new book along with the succulent bouquet, icing on the cake. What girl doesn’t love a bouquet? And this one will last and last and then thrive when I mix the cuttings into my collection! Awesome!

Katherine W. May 24, 2013, 8:15 pm

Expressing why I would enjoy winning any one of your prizes is the easy part! I would love the watercolor because I collect art, am amazed by the medium of watercolor, love vibrant colors, and am a fan of succulents. The private workshop would be a treat and I would choose as my guests my brother, who lives in San Diego, my nephew in San Francisco who in his business blog recently credited both me and the book I gave him by you, as his original inspiration to begin collecting and cultivating succulents, and a lovely lady in your area who was generous enough to adopt a rescue cat from me recently. The Rosette Bouquet could be enjoyed as an arrangement for quite some time, and then dissasembled and given new homes in the succulent garden that grows under my huge old oak tree. I still send lots of snail mail and the greeting cards would be frameable for recipients. Lastly, the mug would make my morning tea taste all that much better, I’m sure. Anyway, congratulations on the new book, and I look forward to adding it to my library. Your advise and guidance for planting under my oak tree made all the difference, and after five years of trying different gardens under that oak, I finally have something that is thriving. If I can only get my “pet” peacock to keep his snacking to a minimum…

Sam May 24, 2013, 8:37 pm

The book looks wonderful and I can’t wait to check it out. All of the prizes in this giveaway would be fun! The watercolor caught my eye, as my husband and I are still in the process of decorating. The bouquet (made by you!) would help us grow our succulent collection, because after we enjoy it in the house, we would plant them! Of course, the mug and the greeting cards would be a more frequent reminder of the beauty of succulents, and to look at the book!

Debbi Nelson May 24, 2013, 8:40 pm

Oh No, I have to choose only one! The succulent bouquet is amazing. I would probably choose that, because they are so beautiful!

Carol Terry May 24, 2013, 8:49 pm

Deborah, I would love to win your watercolor of an Agave. It is something I would enjoy every day in my home. Your use of color in succulent compositions is so exciting that your book would be my next choice so I can learn more. The mug is another choice because I would see it and use it every day.
Carol

Caroline May 24, 2013, 8:58 pm

You are an inspiration! Would love the 2 hour demo at oasis. Your books and blogs have me hooked!!

Rita Frakes May 24, 2013, 9:07 pm

Hi Debra,

Me oh my, I must pick a favorite from so many wonderful items? I belong to a small garden club in Wisconsin and at our April meeting we created dish gardens. I obtained your 2 books from our public library and showed them to club members. I have renewed the books as often as allowed and now must return them to the libary. Because I cannot travel the workshop and also number 3 would be out. I would be thrilled to receive any of the other items. My passions are books, plants and quilting–which cover color, shape, and texture–as do your books, paintings and work with succulents. I cannot list a favorite as all the items would be such treasures and exciting to receive.

Rita

Irene May 24, 2013, 9:35 pm

Love succulents. Would love to have the book. Prefer the watercolor or bouquet .Since I’m across the country the demos should go to other winners.

Lisa Lomax May 24, 2013, 9:41 pm

Hi Debra! Congratulations! I can hardly wait for my pre-order copy of the book to arrive! How thoughtful to offer gifts. If I could choose one of the gifts for myself, I would select the mug. Drinking my morning tea from the graptopetalum mug would be a double treat to start my day! I am looking forward to the Waterwise event; hope to have a chance to chat a bit.

Anne Graves May 24, 2013, 9:41 pm

Wow! I’m crazy for succulents! The painting would look great in my Mexican Talavera inspired bathroom, I would love to take the 2-hr. demonstration on our vacation to San Diego this fall, and your book is a must-have if I am to continue to plant succulents in our hot, dry Texas landscape!!

Diane Fargen May 24, 2013, 9:44 pm

love your eletter. I have started collecting succulents and find that I really don’t know alot about them. I have lost a few but they seem to thrive on my porch during the summer. Would enjoy a copy of the book on Succulents so that I could identify the ones I have and figure out how best to take care of them.

Peggy May 24, 2013, 9:45 pm

I have used both of your original books and they are so helpful. I love the illustrations and practical advice. Everyone who comes to our home comments on our succulent collection and your books started it all. I would love the personalized workshop at Oasis!

Colleen Fiegel May 24, 2013, 9:53 pm

I love this! I collect succulents and would love to have (1) An original watercolor by me of an agave, 9-by-12, unframed. You’ll also receive a signed and personalized copy of Succulents Simplified.
You can see some of my succulents photos on my facebook page.

Lisa May 24, 2013, 10:17 pm

I always enjoy your postings on FB. Some of them are so unique. I would love to win the workshop because I have so many types of succulents (which means lots of cuttings laying around) and I always need new ideas of how to use them. The Hidden Meadows garden club will be having their own workshop in October, where we will be planting antique/junkstore finds (such as old chairbottoms or anything that can have wire and moss added to it to support the plantings.) I also wouldn’t mind winning the painting. You have captured the unique essence of succulents in you painting. Thanks for all your enthusiasm. I am a big fan.

Jennifer May 24, 2013, 10:18 pm

What a great selection of gifts. They all sound terrific but especially the water color of agave. My husband got me hooked on succulents and I’m tempting him with tropicals. The succulents are winning in our sunroom. The water color would fit perfectly so I could enjoy it while relaxing in the sunroom. Thanks Cindy for sharing on your Facebook page for succulent perch. Love your birdhouses. I’ll definitely share on my Facebook page. If I don’t win I’ll certainly look for your book.

maryo May 24, 2013, 10:20 pm

Debra, I so enjoy your books. I have planned to buy “Succulents Simplified” every since you mentioned its publication. I missed you in DesMoines (no matter how badly we wish to drive a 4+ hour trip in less than 3 hours… it still seems to take 4 hours 😉 !!)
I do hope you enjoyed your journey to the midwest!

If I was lucky enough to win your celebration give-away; I would hope to win your beautiful painting. Your wonderful art work is how I became interested in the succulents. I had no idea how much fun cactus could be until I found your paintings about the same time as we traveled to Tuscon AZ!! wow!!

My 2nd choice prize would be the photo library. I so enjoy your style (designs) of your projects. Now if only I could create a succulent landscape in the midwest that would survive cold, snow, and winter; this would be one less worry during a midwestern drought.

Thank-you for sharing the beauty of barbs and thorns, sincerely, maryo

Kathy J May 24, 2013, 10:30 pm

The book would be wonderful, ever since I received your blog. I”m in love with succulents! Wow!

Pam/Digging May 24, 2013, 10:39 pm

Congrats on the new book, Debra! I’d LOVE to win your agave watercolor, but any of the prizes would be a treat with the exception of the 2 hr demo, only because I have no plans to be in San Diego anytime soon. I did indeed post a photo of your book cover on my FB page too. https://www.facebook.com/diggingblog/posts/555140614537425 Cheers, Pam

Erin May 24, 2013, 10:41 pm

I am a rookie gardener and just discovered how fun succulents are! I would LOVE prize 3, the bouquet and the signed book, as I am always looking for awesome succulents, and I have questions that the book can probably answer!

Deborah Doolittle May 24, 2013, 10:47 pm

Have already received a copy of the book. I ordered from Amazon and it came immediately. I would be interested in the watercolor. I’ve been making cactus and succulent dish gardens for over a year. Your books have been very helpful and inspirational. Locally, St. Louis, MO, I’m a member of the Henry Shaw Cactus and Succulent Society as well as a member of the Cryptanthus Society. I’ve always been a houseplant enthusiast, but the cactus and succulents have completely taken over. I’ve installed grow lights in the basement and have two small green houses. Am working towards one big show this coming September to showcase and sell my dish gardens. I’ve enjoyed your new book especially since you use the more common names of the most familiar plants. Looking forward to the next one.

Luciann May 24, 2013, 11:02 pm

I love your ideas and your enthusiasm really comes through in your public events! I am SO looking forward to the celebration at Oasis! I have been meaning to send you photos of my succulent sprouting a from single leaves; they have been so much fun to watch grow. I would like to have a personal session with you; I have friends who would be thrilled!

Julie May 24, 2013, 11:13 pm

What a generous and fun person you are Debra! Thank you! I’ve been to your presentations at the Succulent Extravaganza the last two years and love your 2 books. I have read them cover to cover and study the beautiful pictures for inspiration for my growing succulent garden. My husband is a 100% disabled vet and we have just moved his elderly mother into our home. Along with taking care of our 2 young girls, my “escape” to my garden is a daily must to say the least. I have been anticipating your third book since you announced it. So more than anything I would love a copy of your new book for more inspiration, education and humor. The bouquet that I could enjoy and later add to my slowly, but ever growing succulent tapestry, would be a bonus!

thank you!

Julie

Margaret May 24, 2013, 11:46 pm

Ever since your workshop in Feb., I’ve fallen even deeper in love with succulents. I would love to make San Diego a destination for me and three like-minded friends when we attend your personalized workshop. Failing that, I would appreciate any other prize from that bounty!

Susana May 24, 2013, 11:57 pm

Debra,
Congratulations on your new book! I love all your FB posts.

I would love to win the succulent bouquet and your book. As to the online photos, I’m sure I’ll treasure looking through all those pictures…

If I could get a 2nd choice of a gift, I would ask for the succulent mug. This way I can be dreaming about succulents all day long… 🙂

I have shared your post about your new book and this giveaway in FB.

Thank you very much!

I would LOVE to win your watercolor of the agave. I love how the image captures the light on the agave leaves- the colors are beautiful. I would have it framed and hang it in my office so I could see it every day and be inspired by it.

Larissa May 25, 2013, 12:30 am

I love it all! But I think I would most like to have that lovely painting. I love your book by the way!

Laura May 25, 2013, 12:37 am

I found out about your giveaway on Sweetstuff’s Sassy Succulents page. I have posted your book on Facebook, Pinterest, and Twitter. I love that you are giving a copy of your book with all of the prizes. The workshop, well it would be an amazing opportunity. I love the rosettes and already have a space picked out for them!!! The watercolor is beautiful, the post cards would be wonderful as well. There are no losers in this giveaway! Thank you for this amazing opportunity!!

Linda J May 25, 2013, 12:52 am

I would love the watercolor painting. Looking forward to the new book too!

Susan Beer May 25, 2013, 12:54 am

Yasu Debra,
Congratulations on your new book which I am sure is just as beautiful and full of excellent teachings as your other books.
I want to thank you again for being my inspiration and welcome to the wonderful world of succulents. With your encouragement and advice my patio gardens are filled with beautiful succulent designs, admired by everyone who comes by and now divisions are in gardens of friends.
I would love to have a copy of your new book, the beautiful Agave watercolor ( Agaves thrive here, I have several and they grow wild and huge throughout the country side). The beautiful note cards would also be lovely to have, I love the idea of sharing your photos with other succulent garden enthusiasts.
Best wishes to you for great success with you new book!

Rosa May 25, 2013, 5:40 am

I found this blog through Succulents and Sunshine.

Congrats on the book!

I would love to hang the watercolour on the wall of my workroom.I love the colours -it looks like jewels and really glow.

That way i can always appreciate the artwork and be inspired to try painting succulents.

Either that, or the mug with the pretty drawing on the side, something that I can put in front of me and look at while I draw or paint.

Or perhaps the rosettes with the book.. what better way to get inspiration then from admiring the actual plant or browsing the book?

Gayle Z May 25, 2013, 6:26 am

I want them all of course, but if I had to pick just one, it would be the first the book cause I need all the succulent help I can get, then the watercolor painting….. cause I am the biggest fan of your paintings! The card would be wonderful since I would need one to write you a thank you note to you. Or would it be the coffee mug would be great since everyone would look at the beautiful drawings and not my bedhead. Since I do not live close, I would donate my day to Julie above and send her out many blessing!
Have a great day, I am off to get a cup of coffee in a plain white cup……so sad…(:

Karen May 25, 2013, 7:32 am

Debra- your first two books have inspired me, and now my daughter as well, to explore the world of succulents. I would love a copy of your book, signed of course!, and the beautiful note cards. That way I can share the beauty with even more of my friends! I learned of this give away on FB and by email from this blog, your FB page, and Sweetstuff’s Sassy blog and FB page as well.

Becky Mrachek May 25, 2013, 7:45 am

Debra
I would love the book and the prizes sound wonderful. I would love to win any of them —- except the notecards (because I am lazy and wouldn’t use them).
The workshop would be very fun for my daughter, friends and myself.
The succulent cuttings that you gave me (I picked them up at your front door) are doing quite nicely in my garden. I just can’t seem to get enough of these little monsters!!!!!

I preordered your book and it arrived this week….your pictures and choice of beautiful easy care succulents is amazing. I have always loved succulents, always growing Jade and aloe. My son is a gardener at The High Line in NYC and before that had an internship at the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens. He has opened up my appreciation by sharing his expertise with me. I have a nice collection of succulents and now have a tutorial on how to create beautiful container gardens with them. Living in the NE makes it more of a challenge. When I read about your new book, I jumped on the chance to preorder and I am delighted
to turn the pages and read and enjoy your descriptions and gorgeous pictures. I would be honored to receive prizes 1,3,4 or 5. Thank you for creating such a wonderful book.

Dorris May 25, 2013, 8:32 am

I love this site! I live in Oklahoma and the succulents love the heat! I would love the bouquet or the cards, they are beautiful and will inspire me to write more!

thanks and keep up the great work.

Dorris

Glenda Gentry May 25, 2013, 8:35 am

Hi, what a unique and generous offer! I would love to receive the rosettes and a copy of the book. The notecards would be icing on the cake. I became an ardent “succulenteer” after attending the Succulent Gardens Extravaganza two years ago and attended Debra’s excellent session there. Learning about and growing succulents has become an exciting new avocation for me. I’ve interested several neighbors in our starting a neighborhood “succulents society.” I learned about this offer from Sweetstuff’s Sassy Succulents blog.

Jessica (@gardenJess) May 25, 2013, 8:41 am

Oh, I love that watercolor – both in print and in mug. And the bouqet as well. If I won the class I have a dear friend who lives nearish to you who I believe would put it to great use – what a fun present, no?

Lonnie Thaler May 25, 2013, 8:42 am

Hi Debra,

I like the seven succulent greeting cards and the mug. I wish I will win and have this wonderful giveaway. Thanks a lot! 😀

Aimee May 25, 2013, 9:02 am

Hi Debra- I saw you speak at a UCD water efficient gardening workshop a couple of years back. Any plans on coming up north again? As a landscape designer in Northern CA we just don’t see that many succulents in our gardens. Frost is part of the issue, but I think culturally up here it just isn’t done much. I’m going to see what I can do about that.

So I posted the link to your new book on Facebook. I would love the painting. I watercolor myself and appreciate the richness of that piece. With the exception of the mug (we have so many, my mom is a potter), I would be pleased to be selected for anything.

Be well. Keep planting.

Aimee

Laura May 25, 2013, 9:27 am

I would love to receive the watercolor with the book, or the photo library.

I have you other books and this sounds the perfect addition to a trilogy.

Mara Aditajs May 25, 2013, 10:21 am

I just rec’d my copy of your latest book — LUV it!! Best part is there are DIY projects! The photos are fabulous. Unfortunately I have already messed up my new book … I keep drooling all over the gorgeous pictures of my favorite plants – SUCCULENTS. My prize??? I love the art of watercolors, so I would like your watercolor Agave (my absolute fav succulent).

Thanks & I would cherish meeting with you again … hopefully, someday soon!!
Mara

Jan Mc May 25, 2013, 10:29 am

Love the artwork, but would be content with breaking my losing streak with a mug. I can drink my coffee displaying it’s art and thereby encourage my Santee succulents to form a livelong bond with those of Debra’s. Pretty sure they are already getting the vibes…

Carrie Del Cima May 25, 2013, 10:38 am

Debra, I have known about you since your first book came out. I still refer to both of your gorgeous books and now have the new one to consult! I had emailed you several years ago regarding names for landscape designers and you kindly replied back with many recommendations…well long story short, I chose one and now have a wonderful front and back yard featuring succulents, cactus, agaves and yuccas. They are my passion! I would like to meet you in person, the two hour session would be an amazing learning experience…..the bouquet, a beautiful gift, and of course the watercolor would be the coup-de-grace…..it would be the inspiration I need to redecorate my office! I don’t want to forget the mug….I am a coffee lover and I can see myself perusing your books or writing notes to friends on your charming note cards!! Even if I am not lucky enough to win, I will be a winner when I attend the workshop weekend!!!

Joey May 25, 2013, 10:48 am

Congratulations and thank you! I’ve learned a lot from your videos and have yet to read any of your books. A signed copy of the book would be great. So would the painting, and a drive from LA to SD for a class, would be even better. I have plenty of planters and pots. I could even share with the whole class! I haven’t checked the books ratings yet. Very interesting and nice of you to share that also! Best of luck to you.
Joey

Ann May 25, 2013, 10:56 am

I’m so newly intrigued by succulents and inspired by your books! Looking forward to attending the Succulent Celebration to learn more. Thanks so much for your generous prize offerings. If I’m so lucky, the container workshop would be wonderful.

Many thanks, Ann.

Peggy Z May 25, 2013, 10:58 am

I can’t wait for this new book! I am a sucker for succulents, and refer to your previous books regularly. I have shared your UTube tutorials with my friends that garden with succulents too. Our local nursery is having a Memorial Day sale and I went a little crazy with the purchase of new plants. Designing succulent bowls will be my weekend pleasure. I would be thrilled and honored to win something in your contest. What I would really love is the private workshop…what a dream that would be. I would bring my friend, sister and sister-in-law, and we would make it a mini vacation. San Diego, here we come! Even if I don’t win anything, let me take this opportunity to THANK YOU, DEBRA LEE BALDWIN!! You are a great talent and inspiration…and I mean that sincerely.

Peggy Z May 25, 2013, 11:10 am

I forgot to say that I posted on Face Book…hope that helps!

Debbie Leininger May 25, 2013, 11:26 am

Sweetstuff brought your site to my attention and I love your work! Your arrangements are beautiful…you are obviously not a serial plant killer as I was until I recently discovered the beauty of succulents. Having just begun working with these plants, I don’t have much of a variety and what I have is mostly ground cover sedums. I have some kind of crested cactus that my husband expected to be my next victim, but it has tripled its size and is responsible for my switch to succulents. I would love to have that bouquet of succulent roses so I can add some of those plants to my planters! Thanks so much for showing us how-to’s! Blessings to you!

Cathy May 25, 2013, 11:56 am

Well, I confess, I couldn’t wait to see if I might be lucky enough to win a prize and a copy of your book — as soon as I read that it was available, I headed over to Amazon and ordered it and my copy is already on the way home!

You must be over the moon at this point. When I ordered the book (the day this post first appeared on GGW), I checked the ranking of the book and you were in the 3,500 range. Today you are just over 1,700. WooHoo and Congratulations!

Of the prizes you offer, I would have loved a private lesson, but since I am on the opposite coast, that would be better given to someone closer to your studio. That said, your mugs and cards are gorgeous (all of your stuff is gorgeous) and something everyone would love to have, myself included, but since I’ve already purchased the book, if I’m I’m one of the lucky ones whose name gets chosen, do pass the copy of the book that goes with the prize to another deserving fan posting a comment. 😉

Last summer we created a succulent planter out of an old fountain. We’ll be posting about it on our blog this spring and I’ll be posting a link to this book as well as the other books (yours) that we referred to when creating it. I’ll try to let you know when the post appears. It will be posted in June.

We also review books on our blog throughout the year. We have a review planned of your book Succulent Container Gardens that will be posted at the same time (we usually space them a few days apart). How does Amazon cull this information? Should we be telling them in some way? We have a bookshelf page on our blog and your books are also listed there with a brief review.

Karen May 25, 2013, 12:01 pm

What a beautiful book. I am just starting out with growing and enjoying succulents and am learning a lot about what to do and not do. I wish I lived closer to be able to come and take a lesson. I love your artwork and would like to have the original water colour or the illustrated mug. As the owner of a newly opened small art gallery I appreciate the talent shown in your beautiful work. I look forward to seeing more of your work over time.
Thank you
Karen

Polly Hitt May 25, 2013, 12:07 pm

So glad I found you and your artistry. I would be thrilled to win any of the prizes. However, a trip to Escondido is not on my road trip list anytime soon. I love your art, and would be tempted to plant a beauty in the mug. The note cards are charming. The thought of framing them is appealing, making them super little remembrance gifts. Of course, a book would serve me well, I would not only read it but keep it prominently displayed in my shop for all to see!

Karen Tandy May 25, 2013, 12:34 pm

I love all the prizes but think I will choose number 3, the bouquet of wonderful succulents and the book! I have started collecting planter HEADS for my garden and have been looking for just the right succulents to put in them and this would be fantastic ! OH happy day. Thank you.

Stacey Weaver May 25, 2013, 12:40 pm

I heard about this give-away on Sweetstuff’s Sassy Succulents and I would really appreciate winning the “Succulents Simplified” book. I lost my job a few months ago and haven’t had much luck finding another one, so I’ve taken up volunteering and SUCCULENTS, blogging, and I’ve gone succulent crazy! I’m a beginner and could really use the book to help me understand more and maybe faster than learning from my mistakes (thereby keeping my plants alive). I’ve lost a few already, but many are flourishing. There’s a couple of projects – learn as I go – on my blog chaosinmotionblog.wordpress.com so you can see what I’m trying. Anyway, finding your site is a gift already.

Nancy White May 25, 2013, 12:54 pm

I would love, love, love the painting or the greeting cards, as they are exquisite. And they come with a signed book!!! I would also be delighted to drink my morning tea in the beautiful succulent mug! I am going to share on Twitter and Pinterest!

Melissa May 25, 2013, 12:56 pm

I have been bitten by the succulent bug and am just getting started. I am an artist as well and truly love your work. I have so much to learn so your book would be a great prize for me. As an artist, your painting would fit very nicely in my collection. The bouquet would be so wonderful! I have been collecting unique pots and decorating them and my “babies” are coming along nicely but it will take some time for them to grow big enough for their new homes. I run a home based business and always have the need for beautiful greeting cards. I want to sell my succulents as creations of art and the greeting cards would make a nice personal touch to add basic care instructions. An avid coffee drinker, the mug is a given! LOL Unfortunately I don’t get down to Southern California often but would absolutely love to get hands on training, unfortunately this is best if given to someone local. All of your offers are so wonderful and generous. The images of ideas is an excellent source for newbies such as myself. I would be lucky and blessed to have any of this offerings and look forward to the opportunity to be a winner!

Delores May 25, 2013, 1:42 pm

My front yard is now mostly succulents. I was inspired by you at a show in Del Mar. My water bill is much lower and I predict a water shortage will only make succulent yards more prevalent.

I would like to drink my morning tea from a Debra Lee cup while admiring the beautiful pictures of succulents in your new book.

Gratefully, Dee

Becky Selby May 25, 2013, 2:15 pm

Thank you for this great prize. I would love the book and the bouquets.

Kathy Madren May 25, 2013, 2:51 pm

Hi Debra,
What a generous giveaway! All the gifts are wanted. My request is for the graptopetalum watercolor mug. This would allow my Lilly dog and me to sit outside amoung the succulents while enjoying coffee, in a special mug, and enjoying your newest book.
Read about your giveaway thanks to Sweetstuff. Fingers and toes are crossed. I always have questions and want to learn more about succulents and their care. I know your book will guide me.

Thanks and Love your Kowledge of Succulents,

Kathy

Carol Robinson May 25, 2013, 2:55 pm

What fun to discover the upcoming Succulent Extravaganza. My copy of Designing with Succulents is dog-eared from use and I look forward to immersing myself further in this amazing world of succulents. As a landscape architect my professional side would love most the photo libraries and the book although my personal side thinks that sitting in my garden sipping my morning coffee from that beautiful mug would be an ongoing pleasure. I look forward to attending the Extravaganza and coming away with more inspiration!

Deborah Sozzani May 25, 2013, 3:11 pm

Preferred prizes: the class at Oasis, the mug.
I’m on my way to Barnes & Noble right now to pick up your newest book succulents simplified I’ve already purchased two copies each of your other two books the second set I purchased from you at a presentation you were doing at the Fallbrook library and I had you autograph them to my daughter Michelle we both love gardening with succulents and your books are such a valuable resource can’t wait to get this newest one thank you for what you do to promote gardening with succulents.

Sarai McMahan May 25, 2013, 3:26 pm

My husband and I are huge fans Debra! Congratulations on your most recent accomplishment! Would love a chance at winning a watercolor and would be honored to display your beautiful art in our new home! Wishing you continued success!

Lise Bixler May 25, 2013, 4:32 pm

I have agave lust, bad. The watercolor picture would match the elegant pillow I bought with your agave illustration on it, which would look less lonely if accompanied by the watercolor. Must. Have.

Rita May 25, 2013, 4:53 pm

Boy, would I like to win the unframed watercolor, beautiful succulent themed note cards, a bouquet of succulent rosettes, the very cool mug, or the fabulous two-hour private container workshop at Oasis Water Efficient Gardens nursery in Escondido with you! Along with a signed and personalized copy of Succulents Simplified! What’s not to love ? Very happy to have stumbled upon your work 🙂

Christine Bellerue May 25, 2013, 4:58 pm

Wow! How exciting! I heard about your book & contest on the Sweetstuff’s Sassy Succulents website.
The book is a must for every aspiring succulent.gardener! If I am ot the lucky winner of that, I will be purchasing it asap.
The artwork is beautiful as well. It be a welcomed addition to my home decor, to reflect my passion for succulents.
The two hour class in Escondito is the prize that I am really crossing my fingers for!!! What an opportunity to learn from the best! My dearest friend lives just down the road from Escondito, we haven’t seen eachother in a few years. This would be such a wonderful experience to share & treasure!

Thank you for such an exciting opportunity!

Donna Minick May 25, 2013, 5:18 pm

Succulents are great favorites of mine, but I could use some help with combining them. Would love your 2-hour workshop, painting, or coffee mug, along with your book, Succulents Simplified. And thank you for your blog-really enjoy it.

Myriam Pelland May 25, 2013, 5:48 pm

Jen Wyhoon May 25, 2013, 6:30 pm

Hi Debra-lee,

I would love to win your a copy of your new book Succulents Simplified & the 101 design ideas for my garden & shop.
I am a floral designer & weddings specialist in Australia, who enjoys using succulents to add that special little quirkness to a brides bq. My garden is enormous with lots of ideas formed from Debra ‘s other 2 books which I share with everyone who visit my garden. I can’t find enough succulents to fill all the ideas I have to do in my garden , having your new book & my ideas to jump into will burst me with more ideas

Julie Morris May 25, 2013, 6:46 pm

I’m always amazed at everything you do- so inspiring. I have become a bit of a succulent addict from following your Facebook page (where I read about this contest). I would love the private workshop but due to the distance, the bouquet and book would be just perfect. Thank you for sharing your work and feeding my succulent addiction!

Lydia Dunaway May 25, 2013, 6:47 pm

Debra, I’ve been growing succulents, orchids and other landscape-type flowers for many years and even have a 40 year old jade that I’ve “shared” with everyone I know. Until I met you through your first two books though, I never really knew what a joy succulents could be, and how important they would eventually be to my lifestyle!! Through your illustrations, videos, the books that you’ve written, and the encouragement of my wonderful husband, Barry, I had the courage to quit a job I absolutely hated and now I’m working harder than ever, but I’m working in my garden and my own greenhouse!! I started my business in May, 2012, and I give you so much credit for helping me believe in myself. I bought a calendar from your website in January so I can be inspired everyday, but it would be nice to start my mornings with your new book and a Debra Lee Baldwin coffee mug. 😉 Thanks again Debra, for bringing so much joy to me and to so many others–All the best, Lydia Dunaway – St. Augustine, FL

Rose Rodzos May 25, 2013, 7:07 pm

This is a wonderful site, with beautiful photos. I have a new found love for succulents. Thank you Ms. Baldwin.

Susan S. May 25, 2013, 7:56 pm

Debra,

You have made me such a fan of succulents! After attending your workshop at Oasis through a gardener’s club, and purchasing your book Succulent Container Gardens, my yard has just taken off! I am no longer afraid to make container pots for my patio or plant succulents among my in ground native plants. I am even remembering some the names of what I plant!

I would be thrilled beyond belief to receive any gift. Since I have attended the workshop on my own, I would like to withdraw from winning that fabulous prize and give someone else this wonderful experience. My top choice would be the book and agave painting. Not only would I love to have another book to give me even more great ideas, the agave painting would be a great way to bring more succulent beauty indoors. I will be at the Succulent Celebration June 8th. I do not blog, Pinterest, Twitter, or even Facebook, but everyone who comments on my garden gets to hear how it all started with your book and workshop!

Nicole May 25, 2013, 9:04 pm

What a wowie giveaway! Your first book was the inspiration for my rock garden and my succulents in pots so I would love to get (4) Seven succulent greeting cards from your online store, plus a signed and personalized copy of Succulents Simplified or No 6. the photo library link. I do have a US address.

I also posted your cover to my blog.

LInda Cobb May 25, 2013, 9:26 pm

I would love to win the workshop because I think that succulents are the next great plant of the decade. I love the multicolors, the blues, yellows, greys, reds, and green. And I want the queen of succulent combo to teach me…….!!!!!!

Helen Cage May 25, 2013, 9:27 pm

Debra you are an inspiration to all us succulent lovers! My yard is a postage stamp compared to yours but because your first book inspired me to get rid of my grass, I now enjoy exploring my yard for unique looking plants and their blooms. In addition I am giving away bags of cuttings. Hope to see you on June 7th

Nancy Goble May 25, 2013, 10:28 pm

I love your watercolor and the mug. I used to live, an i grew up in Northern Calif. and I took all of these gorgeous succulents for granted. Now we live in Montana and these beautiful sedums come back every year. They are so wonderful but I want more succulents in my life.
I love your books!
Thanks, Nancy

Susan May 25, 2013, 10:48 pm

I love your presentations and books and really enjoy your artistry with succulents. I’m a Counselor and would love your watercolor for my office; it would match perfectly and the students and I would appreciate it every day! I’d also love a sunny day in San Diego spending time with you and my friends, laughing, learning, and creating! Who could ask for more? Thanks for the opportunity to participate. 🙂

Luanne Hulsizer May 25, 2013, 11:28 pm

Hi Debra! Congratulations on another successful adventure! I would enjoy placing your beautiful water color in my very drab office or the workshop to share with my friend Margee to thank her for introducing me to the beauty of succulents and your books! I have shared your website link on Facebook and Twitter

Amy B May 26, 2013, 12:04 am

I would love the first two prizes, the painting and book and the chance to meet and work with you.

We are in the process of redoing our yard in water wise plants. I have had a few containers of succulents, but nothing on this scale and I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed. I adore gardening though and I’m looking forward to the challenge of creating an interesting and water efficient space. I love reading blogs and I recently discovered that many of my favorite parts of Sunset Mag were also from you. I am bringing my mother-in-law and son to your friday presentation and I’m really excited about it. I hope to have a few questions answered about my soil type and gardening with succulents.

Amy B May 26, 2013, 12:07 am

Ahh, so sorry, to be a comment hog. I would also love the greeting cards and book! I would like to frame a few as art!

Denise May 26, 2013, 12:35 am

Love the new book! I shared a pic on facebook the day I got it!
I have all 3 books now and learn so much. Especially love all the photos!
I would be happy with any prize!

Andria May 26, 2013, 1:24 am

Debra, I love your passion for succulents, the energy you show is infectious. I can’t wait to get my hands on your latest book. I Love succulent Container Gardens. Fabulous photography ! And no nonsense practical information. I have been inspired by your book (keep it on the coffee table). I have been making succulent frames, balls, containers of every size and shape you can imagine. I have had to build a hoop house so that I can keep it up all winter in my Zone 8 seaside garden. I would be thrilled to have gift set # 4. Not only your new book (which I will show off at the Garden Club next month,I am librarian) but I am excited to continue to access so much information in one place. Love the big gorgeous photography so the Notecards would be perfect. Will to send all of my plant geek friends

Irma Ornelas-Woo May 26, 2013, 3:11 am

Hi. Congrats! On your newest book & cannot wait to get my hands on it. I would love to win I, 3, 4 or 5. Would love the one on one time but I live far away & it would be hard to manage a trip away from home-especially with a toddler. Thank’s for all your helpful info. & your beautiful work with succulents etc.

Andrew Sloan May 26, 2013, 5:42 am

Your previous books have been inspirational for me as i am starting to make a water-wise garden with lots of succulents in Spain. A painting and a signed copy of your new book would be wonderful and of great practical assistance to me and of course help to promote you in Europe.

Nicky Church May 26, 2013, 7:18 am

Your books have given me so much inspiration and I can’t wait to see the new one. Whilst I’d LOVE the workshop, it would be tricky travelling from Australia :-/ Equally the bouquet would probably die in quarantine :-(. Another one of your books would be just amazing, but the greeting cards would be just wonderful. Nicky

Scott Reed May 26, 2013, 8:43 am

Congradulations on your great success with your new publication “SUCCULENTS SIMPLIFIED”. I am looking foward to seeing this great book. I read any publication I find by you. What great information you provide.I recently started growing succulents here in CAJUN COUNTRY,and what a challenge it has been, but great fun and success, thanks to many of your articles I have came across.I grow alot of tropicals, here in Louisiana ,in our warm, wet, tropical climate, and the succulent containers I added to my landscape are just wonderful, and growing like crazy, thanks to your information on soil preparation, for succulent container gardening.I am always searching for new information on cold hardy succulents. I would love to win a copy of your new book ,I know it will be a great reference to use. Thanks and God Bless Scott

Phyllis Lewandoski May 26, 2013, 9:22 am

Hi Debra
Excited about the new book. Met you at the Malibu Garden Club with my daughter Jennifer. I am a beginning watercolor painter so I would love to win your painting. Also the cup is too cute so if I won that I would give it to my Jennifer. My succulents are quite beautiful now and people stop by my front yard to view them continually. I got my inspiration from you.

Great success on your new book!

I was sent to this page by SWEETSTUFF’S SASSY SUCCULENTS. I just posted this on Facebook! I love your first two books and know I will love this. I regularly visit your website for ideas. I’m an artist, also, and know how talented a designer you are.

I garden with lots of succulents. As I can’t afford to buy them, I get them from friends’ houses as cuttings and start them myself. I love giving them as potted design gifts.

My goal is to share them with the local schools and community gardens with talks and gifts of succulents. I’d also love to have local children come work in my gardens and take home some of the succulents or other flowers and vegetables on the land. I have a chronic illness which has prevented my from beginning this project.

I’d be most honored to receive any of your gifts, except the class, as I can’t travel now.

Beverly Pastore May 26, 2013, 12:49 pm

Congratulations on all your wonderful creative success!!!!

My first selection for a prize gift would be your class. I have some special master gardener friends who love succulents as much as I do. It would be such a wonderful treat to spend the day with them visiting and learning from you 🙂

But truly I would be honored to receive any of your special creative gifts!!!
Wishing you continued success in all you do 🙂

Christie Sanders May 26, 2013, 12:54 pm

Hi Deborah,
I heard about your give-away on Sweetstuff’s Sassy Succulents web site/newsletter. The prize I would most like to win is your original watercolor of an agave 9 x 12. I would most like to win this original watercolor because I already have your books and I am a huge fan of your art work which I would love to display in my home. Thank you for offering up some amazing gifts!

Lynn May 26, 2013, 1:07 pm

Debra – What a savvy marketer you are! I am impressed a group of us from Laguna Beach Garden Club are attending on June 7 at WaterWise Botanicals. I am excited to meet you personally and learn more about succulents.
I would enjoy the class (I will give it as a gift as I am traveling this summer), the agave watercolor & book, or the bouquet.
See you on Friday June 7.

Lynne Zeller May 26, 2013, 1:24 pm

Hi Debra!

Congrats on the release of your new book. I ck your FB/www pages regularly and find your succulent design ideas inspiring. We are in the process of tearing out all our landscaping, front and backyard, eventually landscaping in succulents and native plants. We would love to attend a class, it would be timely and extremely helpful. We are SD residents and familiar with Oasis. We would also enjoy a book or one of your beautiful water colors. I hope we have the pleasure of meeting and chatting some day. Thank you for sharing all your special gifts! Lynne

Robert Kourik May 26, 2013, 1:26 pm

I sure want the watercolor. Magical.

Jennifer May 26, 2013, 2:16 pm

Well. I’m five hours out from San Diego, so that workshop would make a nice overnight trip.

I do wish more of your watercolors were available as poster art through your store site.

Jennifer May 26, 2013, 2:17 pm

The watercolor draw would be my second entry.

Thank you for this opportunity!

Patty Hicks May 26, 2013, 3:09 pm

Wow…Debra you are really celebrating aren’t you!? What a great lot of items to be giving away. How on earth does one choose they are all so wonderful. Since I recently I have become quite enamored with succulents and have a lot to learn I think the book would be most helpful so I’ll say that..or the bouquet…or the mug…or the note cards. =)
(If I lived nearer you I’d put the workshop in too but alas…).

I would LOVE to have the watercolor and of course the book! The watercolor, because I paint also and love watercolors! The colors would be perfect in my Southwestern style bedroom! To have the book would be wonderful because I love succulents most of all my plants! It’s a beautiful book!!

Mindy May 26, 2013, 3:21 pm

Debra,
Your watercolor has me drooling! Please enter my name into that drawing and I’m excited to read your new book! I found you via Succulents and Sunshine.
Thanks!

Nancy Pietrelli May 26, 2013, 4:04 pm

I became a succulent fanatic at the first Succulent Extravaganza at Robin Stockwell’s Succulent Gardens in Castroville. Listening to Debra give a seminar there and having her sign “Succulent Container Gardening” sealed the interest for me. Because of recent shoulder surgery, my plans to attend the book signing at Waterwise Botannicals, June 7,8 has been scrapped. So, I am hoping to contend for either the Agave watercolor, the 7 notecards or the graptopetalum mug. Thank you for consideration. Nancy

Sandi Dixon May 26, 2013, 5:22 pm

Dear Debra,

There are so many items that I love. I’ve given calendars, mugs and computer pads as gifts. Personally I use the stationery and love the paintings. Everyone that I’ve given gifts to just love them and use them all the time. Thank you for the great variety and beautiful colors that express life so clearly.. I’d adore a water color they are beautifully created. Biggle my friend.

Barbara Smith May 26, 2013, 5:34 pm

Used you book Designing with Succulents as a gardening Bible.
Our yard has been on two garden tours and everyone has loved our succulents.
I would love your seminar or the bouquet.

Danette May 26, 2013, 6:47 pm

I am in love with your page. I had no idea how much one can do with succulents. I also love the nature gone wild . You have inspired me to get out and do some gardening <3 . Thank you so very much. I would love any of the items you are giving away. I love nature.

Barb Whelan May 26, 2013, 8:01 pm

I saw you present at the San Diego Home and Garden Show and love your passion for succulents. I have your other books and am looking forward to your new book. My friend and I will be attending the celebration at the Waterwise Botanicals and you are the main reason that we are going. I love all the prizes that you have offered, but mainly the watercolor painting, the notecards and the mug. Actually I would love to win the private container workshop. I recently took my front yard lawn out and replaced it with waterwise plants, mostly succulents. I recycled a friend’s backyard concrete patio that she was taking out. I broke it up and used all the pieces for my stepping stones. I stained them with the fertilizer, Ironite, and the whole walkway only cost me $25., two bags of Ironite. I look forward to seeing you at Waterwise Botanicals. I will now share your book cover on my Facebook. Thank you for all that you have contributed to the world of succulents.

Lorrene May 26, 2013, 8:29 pm

Congratulations on your new book. I’m looking forward to reading it and applying your clever ideas. I would love to win your watercolor and signed book, bouquet, note cards or mug to use as inspiration. Alas, I’m too far away to enjoy a workshop.

Vitina Tiso May 26, 2013, 9:46 pm

I am looking forward to owning your new book. When your first book came out, you did a book signing at our Fallbrook Garden Club garden tour. I had never experienced the joy of gardening exclusively with succulents, and your book inspired me. I had an area that surrounded my front entrance (and beyond) that definitely needed a face lift. So I proceeded to take out all the grass, add paths here and there and start my succulent garden. Needless to say it has been a wonderful experience and very rewarding.
I would love to win your succulent rosettes and eventually add them to my gardens.
Your watercolor would be another way to appreciate your artistry.
Thank you for your inspiration!
Tina

Darlene Gerow May 26, 2013, 10:24 pm

What a lovely promotion idea! I have shared “Succulents Simplified” with my facebook friends and I would be delighted to win the mug decorated with the graptopetalum along with your new book. Thank you.

Lily M May 26, 2013, 10:38 pm

Congrats on your new book! Seeing as how I’m not in CA to attend your workshop I would really like a succulent bouquet, or your watercolor painting so I can hang on my wall or your book so I can be even more obsessed with succulents, if that’s even possible! I like the mug too even though I don’t really drink coffee I could put more plants in it.

Diane Newton May 27, 2013, 1:57 am

Hi, Debra!
I just ordered your new book from Amazon and can hardly wait to read every page! I went a few years ago to your demonstration at the Malibu Garden Club and mentioned that I was going to make my back garden into a succulent/cacti garden with a three-tier fountain also planted with succulents….it is about 70% completed….it is becoming a joy to behold, thanks to you. I gave a dear friend, Elisabeth Waldo, of Rancho Cordillero del Norte here in Northridge, both of your books…..her estate here is mostly cacti and succulents…..it is truly an oasis. Since I have been spending too much time to achieve wellness(and am presently on a walker), I would not be able to go to your workshop at this time but any of your other very special gifts would be gratefully received. All of them are personalized treasures of yours….. I hope to see you in the near future somewhere up this way.
I wish you great success with your third book!
Diane

Alison Wang May 27, 2013, 4:28 am

Hi Debra,
Succulents are my newest obsession!! I love to trade clippings with friends!! I would love to win the succulent bouquet! I would also be very happy to win your book!! I was at the San Mateo home and garden show and saw your “sneak peek” of the book! I hope the luck is with me!! Your ideas are amazing!

Pam May 27, 2013, 8:24 am

I am so excited about your book and can’t wait to get one! I absolutely adore working with succulents and have made both living frames and most recently succulent/sedum wreaths. I’m proud of how they turn out as I learn by doing, however I know there are improvements I can make. To be mentored by someone such as yourself would be an absolute dream! Instruction on proper use of plants, color and overall design would greatly improve my skills and is much needed to grow my small hobby business (PJ’s Potting Shed) I started just this past February. Besides winning a book, your watercolor would look fabulous in my home and the bouquet is something I would enjoy viewing/learning the construction of. However, meeting and talking with you in person is very much my desire. Succulent types are pretty limited in central Illinois, I’d no doubt be astounded with the varieties you have to work with in CA. I will be sharing your book on both PJ’s Potting Shed business page and on my own personal page on FB. Please feel free to check out PJ’s page if you desire and view some of my designs. Thank you and I look forward to learning more from you! Pam

Ahsi Peyton May 27, 2013, 8:36 am

Hi! I LOVE your new book, I received it hot off the press and have already read it- gorgeous photos and great information! Thank you!
I’d love any of the prizes which don’t require being local to San Diego. I’m especially interested in the rosette bouquet.
Thanks so much!

Jennifer Teague May 27, 2013, 10:00 am

Congratulations on the new book! I would absolutely love to win it, along with your beautiful painting. My daughter loves the bouquet and I do too, but I collect artwork as well as succulents, so I think it would be a special treat to win.

Kim Gorman May 27, 2013, 10:07 am

Wow! I LOVE that painting!! I would love to win that! I’d be equally excited to win the cards and the mug and the bouquet! Most of all I must have your book, it looks amazing. I posted your book cover on my FB wall to share your knowledge with my friends 🙂
Kim

Sonia May 27, 2013, 11:26 am

Debra, I refer frequently to my copies your two books that you signed for me at the Succulent Gardens Extravaganza (two successive years). Your designs are full of inspiration, as is your blog. I am influenced by your work in my container gardens and my craft projects.
And your creativity continues to surprise–you paint!
If I am lucky enough to win a prize, your water color would be a treasure. Of course, the bouquets would be fantastic, along with the link to the Succulents in Containers. Sharing your work through the note cards would be such fun too!
Your talent is refining and growing! Congratulations!
Sonia

Linda Bresler May 27, 2013, 1:52 pm

Hi Debra,

I consider your books my “bibles” for succulent information. I am constantly referring to them as I design succulent gardens. I was truly inspired by the garden on the cover of your book, Designing with Succulents.
I would love your note cards with the succulent photos. I still mail pictures to my plant friends placed in pretty cards with a message and send them by “snail mail”. I try very hard, but I can never get as beautiful a photo of a succulent as you do.
I would also love your mug with the graptopetalum painting on it. That succulent has such an iridescent color that It is difficult to capture its full beauty. Your picture appears to have captured its loveliness. Also, I always seem to have a cup of coffee by my side as I create my landscape designs.
I am definitely planning to attend the Succulent Celebration on Friday with several of my plant-loving friends. I look forward to seeing you there, and hearing your presentation.
Linda

Tammie May 27, 2013, 2:17 pm

I’d LOVE the private session with you but since I live in Illinois, and that won’t be happening, my choice to win would have to be the water color and my runner up would be the succulent rosettes bouquet. Both are beautiful and would make me very happy. And of course I would love to have the book but will buy it on Amazon if I don’t win it. Good luck in your rankings and all your projects. You provide so much inspiration.

Tammie May 27, 2013, 2:19 pm

Forgot to mention I shared, shared, shared and tweeted about your book. Very exciting.

Norma Lomento May 27, 2013, 2:43 pm

I drove from San Pedro with my husband to Del Mar to listen to one of your presentations. The more I listen and read your books the more I want to learn how to take care of succulents and how to make arrangements with them. My niece and nephew came from Mexico and she wanted to buy seeds because she wanted flowers. Her husband explained to her that the climate is Mediterranean and the flowers wouldn’t grow. I showed them your books and they fell in love with them. I gave them one of them and they were very grateful. I’m looking forward to receive your new book.
I posted it on Facebook but it is under my maiden name Garate. I would like to get the lessons or the bouquet.
Norma

Felicia Roston May 27, 2013, 5:54 pm

Hi Debra, I love your first book Designing with Succulents because there are so many fabulous photos of succulents in the ground and it has given me lots of ideas and inspiration. Your photos are also clear, true to color, and highlight the beauty of these plants. Thank you for your great work and for offering such a nice giveaway! I would love to win the watercolor because the colors are gorgeous. I would also be happy to win the greeting cards because I would send them to all my succulent loving friends to share the gift. All are such wonderful prizes because they come with your new book – I can’t wait to see those luscious pages!

Linda Jones May 27, 2013, 8:30 pm

I just received your new book and it is eye candy for the gardener’s soul. I really like your watercolor but am already drooling over all the photos your Preface said you couldn’t include in the book. I’m going to go with the photos on the special website.

Melissa H. May 27, 2013, 9:26 pm

I pre-ordered and have received your new book. I love it just as I do your other two books. I would love to receive any of your giveaways, but especially 1, 2 or 3. My father lives in San Diego and attending one of your workshops would be a great excuse to visit him! You and your books are a large reason why I and many of my friends are obsessed with succulents these days. I heard you speak at last fall’s Succulent Extravaganza at Succulent Gardens and am hoping you’ll be there again this year. Thanks for all that you do!

Mike McGiffin May 27, 2013, 9:53 pm

We have enjoyed “Designing with…” and “…Container Gardens” and are anticipating your latest book. Please enter my name for your workshop and mug.

Margie May 27, 2013, 10:04 pm

I posted about your new book on my Facebook page first, and now want to tell you how excited I am to be able to attend the workshop on June 7th with my husband. We both have that day off.
I am having a special birthday this summer, I am turning 60, and I think it would be a fun gift for me and a friend from work, to attend a private container workshop with you. I live in Ramona, and have some nice succulents that I have gotten as gifts or purchased my self, and would love to get some tips from you on how to make cuttings for new arrangements or plant the singles with other succulents. If I won the bouquet of rosettes that would be great to enjoy for a while and use those cuttings for more arrangements in pots in my newly updated backyard.
Your book sounds great, as I love to look at pictures of succulent arrangements. It will be fun to read and use thinking we both live in a similar climate only a few miles from each other.

Faith May 27, 2013, 10:23 pm

Hello Debra. I can’t think of one of the prizes I wouldn’t treasure. I already have your other book and the CD’s and love them all. I took a class from you at the SD Botanic Garden about a year ago and it helped me so much, both as a docent in the SDBG and as a home landscaper. So if I have to choose I would say that either the mug or the note cards. Either one of them would help spread the word about succulents. Thank you for giving us this opportunity to get your book and and access to the pictures.

Sue Vargas May 28, 2013, 6:43 am

Hi Debra,

You are so generous! Sorry, cannot choose.

All the best,
Sue

Pamela Graham May 28, 2013, 8:06 am

All things succulents is my new obsession! I love all the prizes but I go to bed at night thinking about my coffee the next morning so I love love the coffee cup!! I also can hardly wait to add to my new library this fabulous book which I will get anyway whether I win or not. Such generosity!!! Thank you so much for the fabulous opportunities, this is so exciting! Pamie G.

PS: I shared this on facebook! Have a great day!

Tim Havenith May 28, 2013, 9:00 am

I came across your blog today when trying to identify a plant. Thanks to your website I was able to identify the plant as a ghost plant, but not only that – I was able to see how adaptable and variable it can be depending on conditions. I’ve added your page as a resource when I publish the post about the plant. I would love some of your cards, as I think succulents are a bit under-appreciated so would like to send them on to friends and family. But any prize that includes your Succulents Simplified book would be fantastic.
Thank you for sharing such wonderful information on your blog – it’s now in my ‘blogs I’m reading’ list on blogger!

cheryl baker May 28, 2013, 9:31 am

Garden Goddess May 28, 2013, 10:59 am

Your book sounds FABULOUS! And so does the giveaway!!! I’d love to have any of the prizes, but especially the workshop. Thank you so much for doing this; I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

Deana Rae May 28, 2013, 12:20 pm

Hi Debra, Congratulations on your new book. I am really looking forward to it. Whether I win one or buy one it will be part of my library and a go-to resource!

See you at the Succulent Extravaganza, I will not miss it this year!!!

Thanks for all your great posts on FB too!

Ellen May 28, 2013, 1:46 pm

Hi Debra. I found out about the give away from Sweet Stuff Sassy Succulents.

I would like the mug and book because I am a true fan of your work and I drink a lot of tea. Drinking tea out of the graptopetalum mug would be grape– I mean, great!

I would love the painting because I love all things agave, I even dream about them!

I reread your books and watch your videos regularly, and always come away with new ideas and fresh inspiration. Thank you!

Nancy Hanson May 28, 2013, 3:31 pm

Hi. I moved here from Chicago in January to pursue my passion in landscaping year round. I love to design with color and the succulents excite me very much. I’m attending the seminar in June and excited about creating succulent designs. My first choice is the 2 hour one on one container design, but I have to admit that I am terribly in love with the Agave watercolor painting because of all the beautiful colors. How lovely this would look in my apartment! My last choice would be the mug, because I never have been one to be attracted to mugs. I would feel grateful with any gift that included succulents/art. Looking forward to meeting you in June, and watching all the beauty come together. Nancy

Alyssa Tang May 28, 2013, 5:56 pm

Hi Debra! Congrats on your new book! I recently got into succulents and I am addicted to them. I am a new gardener and succulents make gardening(especially to a novice like myself) so easy and fun. I just bought all your books a month ago and had your new book pre-ordered. I just received Succulent Simplified by mail last week. I would love the library of pictures because I truly enjoy how you capture the beauty of the plants. Your photos are what drew me to succulents in the first place! You are a gifted artist. Thank you for sharing your beautiful work with the world and inspiring people like me!

Alyssa in Irvine, CA

Alyssa Tang May 28, 2013, 5:57 pm

Forgot to mention that I posted the book cover on pinterest as well!

Flora May 28, 2013, 6:56 pm

I would love the book and mug – it’s beautiful and functional! And your book would be such a great reference to have!

9 days ago I pinned the lovely image of your book cover to my board “Great Plants and Planters”

I have been waiting for the release of you newest book…which would be a most wonderful prize on it’s own, but if I must pick, I would choose your watercolor of the agave.

Congrats Debra on the launch of your newest project.
Thanks for all of the great advice.

Terri Phillips May 28, 2013, 8:12 pm

I have an obsession. You, and your previous books, are responsible. Dallas is not the most hospitable place to indulge this obsession, but you’ve shown me the way. My own white dog, Hamic, and I have morning coffee amid my 73 pots of succulents each morning. It is only fitting that I enjoy that coffee in your graptopetalum painted cup. Thank you for the proper introduction to such beauty – both alive and on canvas.

Kathie Poindexter May 28, 2013, 8:51 pm

Hi Debra, Your first book “Designing with Succulents was a Christmas gift from my husband, Chuck in 2010 and it became the inspiration for a complete redo of our garden in the San Pasqual Valley in Escondido. We came to an event at Waterwise Botanicals last year and attended one of your workshops and got even more great ideas. We won San Diego Home and Gardens, Garden of the Year in 2012 and have added many more succulents and rock gardens since. We would love any of the prizes but I would love to share your ideas with my friends at the two-hour private container workshop. The Seven succulent notecards or the bouquet of a dozen succulent rosettes would be fantastic as well. Looking forward to adding your third book to my collection.Thank you so much for inspiring us! Kathie & Chuck

Jane Abston May 28, 2013, 9:44 pm

Wow! This is a great giveaway. Unfortunately, I can’t go to San Diego next month. Anyway, I l would love to have the bouquet of a dozen succulent rosettes you’ve made. It looks really pretty. 😀

Ron May 28, 2013, 9:45 pm

Hello Debra, I would love A bouquet of a dozen succulent rosettes, I have been a fan of yours for some time. I have done a lot with succulents here in Idaho since I started reading your blog last year. Life is good and I would like a copy of your book, to keep me company with my morning coffee. ron…

Susan Shaw May 29, 2013, 12:07 am

Hi Debra,
I would be thrilled beyond belief to win a book, anything else would be a fantastic bonus. Since taking a workshop with you through a gardener’s club, my garden has just taken off! I am no longer afraid to experiment with succulents, and have them integrated between all of my native plantings. I have read your Succulent Container Gardens book cover to cover and it has given me the ability to arrange beautiful container pots for my porch and patio. I am even remembering the names of most of the ones I plant! I do not facebook, tweet, or pinterest, but anyone commenting on my garden gets to hear how you have been my inspiration through your workshop and book. I am very much looking forward to the Succulent Celebration June 8th. and your potting demo.

Dorothy Wink May 29, 2013, 6:20 am

I just recently became interested in succulent gardening and can’t get enough of it. I would love a one on one lesson with you but I live on the East coast and that isn’t possible so I would love the watercolor. It is just gorgeous. I am heading over to Facebook now to post about your new book.

Lorianne May 29, 2013, 9:43 am

Hi! We heard you speak at the San Francisco Flower and Garden Show this spring. As a lifelong succulent devotee, I would love the bouquet and book. Thanks!

Marsha May 29, 2013, 11:33 am

Hi Debra! I’ve been searching the web for your gardening advice since I first discovered you via Garden Rant. I enjoy your witty nature as well as your brilliant designs and advice. My back recently announced to me that I am approaching 50; your tip about using a lazy susan when potting is much appreciated. I’m a bit of a hermit and avoid social media, but I do forward links to my 90-year-old Aunt Kate. I would enjoy having my morning, afternoon, and evening tea in one of your mugs, please. Since I correctly used a semicolon in my comment, does that increase my chance of winning? 😉

Lori R. May 29, 2013, 2:08 pm

The book is awesome. I love the rosette bouquet and the water color is gorgeous!

teresa May 29, 2013, 2:24 pm

I’ve been a fan of yours for quite some time. I’d be happy to win anything, but if I must choose I’d say the mug/book. See you on the 7th an 8th.

Patricia Baird May 29, 2013, 2:29 pm

Debra,

I would be over the moon if I won the two hour consultation with you and would be able to invite three succulent loving friends along. I have two of your books and have heard you speak. Your ideas for growing, caring, rescuing and arranging plants are inspiring and easy to follow. The notecards would also be a pleasing item to win. A handwritten note, with your lovely design, is almost a novelty these days and would surely surprise and delight the recipient.

In any event, I will be at the succulent extravaganza in Escondido on June 7th and will see you then.

Jeanine Campos May 29, 2013, 4:03 pm

Hi Debra,
I am SO excited “Succulents Simplified: Growing, Designing, and Crafting with 100 Easy-Care Plants” is here. I cannot adequately tell you how you have helped transform my garden and home. I first heard you speak at Roger’s Gardens, started following your blog, watched your videos and now have your books on my coffee table and succulents in my garden for all who visit to see. My yard has gone from completely nondescript to people stopping to admire the beautiful transformation. My porch is filled with miniature succulent gardens, potted succulents, and hanging succulents. You have been such an inspiration and I am proud to call my self a “Debra Lee Devotee”. Of course my first choice for your “Succulent Books and Bouquet Giveaway” would be meeting you for the workshop, but I would also be thrilled with any of the prizes because each is from “you”. The bouquet of a dozen succulent rosettes would have a place on porch, the mug illustrated with your watercolor of a graptopetalum would be filled with my nightly green tea, the original watercolor of an agave would hang in my kitchen, the seven succulent greeting cards as notes of appreciation, or the two-hour private container workshop would inspire me as a life-long succulent gardener. Each would be appreciated and a thrill to receive. I will definitely be at the Succulent Celebration June 8th. I have pinned “Succulents Simplified” on my pinterest board and because I don’t have facebook my kids have posted for me. THANK YOU for your beautiful design ideas and inspirations.

Janie Kanzler May 29, 2013, 4:10 pm

The watercolor is gorgeous so that would be my first choice since I can’t be in CA for the workshop. The book “Succulents Simplified”, would be wonderful as well as the bouquet of rosettes. The greeting cards, mug, & online photo access would be great also.

Thanks for sharing your talents!

Myra May 29, 2013, 4:38 pm

Mug! Please enter me in for the mug drawing! My favorite time of day is anytime I can sit outside with my succulents while drinking tea. Definitely going to share some Succulents Simplified on Facebook.

Eden May 29, 2013, 5:09 pm

Debra,

I just received your book yesterday- I love it! So excited to try the projects.

I love your enthusiasm and gentle handle holding. I feel like I can really be successful with these new projects.

I was introduced to the joy of succulents by my aunt. She has limited mobility due to parkinsons and her favorite things are going to thrift stores and succulents. She has now combined these two loves and uses her treasures from thrift stores and her succulents and makes beautiful upcycled arrangements. Her third love is cats, but she hasn’t quite figured out a way to combine all three, other than using cat shaped items in her succulent creations. She has donated some of these arrangements to charities that work with women as prizes for a silent auction. I have given her your book regarding designing container succulent arrangements and am hoping that I can win a prize on your blog so that I can have another copy of your book to give to her.

My first choice would be to share the class with my aunt. I know she would love it. She lives in Orange County and I live in San Diego, so it would be a nice day trip. She would love to learn some new tips and I am sure she would be inspired by the beautiful surroundings at Waterwise Botanicals.

My second choice would be the beautiful water color. Again, I would give this to my aunt. The colors in the piece are gorgeous and I am sure she would love looking at it in her house.

My third choice would be the greeting cards. Yes, my aunt would love these. She does not use a computer, so handwritten notes are her main form of communication.

My fourth choice is the gorgeous rosettes. I would split this with my aunt after she enjoyed it- we could share the starters if we didn’t have them in our yards already.

My fifth choice is the mug. Of course, I would like it for my aunt. Again, the colors are great and I am sure she would enjoy it.

Thank you so much for the wonderful opportunity to win one of your great prizes and for making succulents even more accessible!

P.S. I also posted on facebook, pinterest and left a review on Amazon.

Thank you!

Marty May 29, 2013, 8:24 pm

Thanks for your generous offers! I would especially enjoy 1, 2 and 3! And congratulations on your new book Succulents Simplified!

Rama Nayeri May 29, 2013, 11:17 pm

I would love a Dudleya mug because they are just to darn adorable.

Neal Barnes May 29, 2013, 11:24 pm

Thank you for the chance to win some great prizes. I would really enjoy a copy of your new book. I have just discovered succulents and have much to learn. The bouquet would be amazing, as my collection of plants at the moment is small. I would also enjoy having the cards to give to fellow plant lovers. I wish you much success with your book, and will share the cover on Pinterest.

Marcia Wals May 29, 2013, 11:44 pm

I’m in Love with your books & Succulents!!!

Jane Kelly May 30, 2013, 1:20 am

Just getting the book, signed by Debra, would be quite enough of a thrill for me, but if I were to receive any of the other gifts, I would love most of all the rosette bouquet-or the notecards-or the mug, or……..anything! I love EVERYTHING Debra does!

Alison May 30, 2013, 2:16 am

My mother loves succulents and I know she would really enjoy the container workshop. She has many succulents decorating her yard. It would be nice to be able to attend that with her. I also really like the bouquet of succulents. What a beautiful way to display them. Thank you for hosting such a wonderful giveaway. I look forward to reading your book.

Lisa Nixon May 30, 2013, 4:55 am

Good Morning! i am President of Bexar County Master Gardeners in Texas and would love to win your book so that I could add it to our resource library. On a personal note – I would love access to your photos so that I could get more ideas for my own home.

Vanessa May 30, 2013, 8:23 am

Since I fell in love with your other two books, I wouldn’t go potting w/o them, another book would just add to my fantastic collection. The painting would look gorgeous in my “green room”, the mug would look darling in my kitchen, and nothing would be better than to win a “one-on-one” planting session with you as the instructor (I’m sure a couple of my Bunco buddies would love to join in as well)!!
Looking forward to your new book, whether I win one or buy it, it’ll be in my plant book collection soon enough!
I live in Spring Valley and have my own greenhouse in Jamul where I propagate my own succulents, what else? They are so much fun & so easy to take care of, that I’m hooked!!

Shayna Kniseley May 30, 2013, 11:08 am

Debra,
I recently came across your site and feel in love with it. I am getting married August 9 and would love to win the bouquet. My entire wedding has been based on succulents. I am using them on my cake, in the centerpieces, and as the wedding favors. My bridesmaids and myself will have succulent bouquets and I would love to have the honor of carrying the one you made as my bridal bouquet. Thanks for the wonderful opportunity to enter your contest!

Jen. May 30, 2013, 11:20 am

I’d love the succulent roses; such a wonderful bouquet.

Thank you so kindly for the opportunity!

Sue May 30, 2013, 12:03 pm

Thank you for you post on FB. I enjoy the info very much. I have several different Succulent plants. Love the look of them plus not having to water them so often. I like the Mug. I drink alot of Coffee when working in my flower gardens. Looking forward to your book. I would also like more succulents.

Jane Kelly May 30, 2013, 12:14 pm

Please do not notify me of comments by email! I’d love to get them but there are way too many!!! Thank you. I would still love to see Debra’s posts, though.

Beverly May 30, 2013, 12:25 pm

Hi. I am new to succuelnets and really enjoy your page. I live in a small town in Illinois so would not be able to attend your seminar, but would really enjoy winning the mug and the book.
I feel kind of like a little girl in a candy store or toy store whnever I see the different succulent plants. I clearly understand the love for these plants. It’s as though a whole new world has been opened up to me.
I recently purchesd my first succulenet plants for indoors and have them under grow lights. They are doing very well and some are even blooming. I do believe I am hooked.

Nancy La Rose May 30, 2013, 12:40 pm

Congratulations on your new book. I am so excited to get my hands on it. My love for succulents comes from my mother from many many years ago. I think all of your prizes are fantastic but I would really love the beautiful coffee mug. I love your watercolors and I used to visit my mom, who is deceased, and we would always have a cup of coffee. Your beautiful mug would daily remind me my love for succulents and also remind me of my loving mother.

I often read your blog and now share with my daughters. Thanks for being a great inspiration.

David M. Maxson May 30, 2013, 12:47 pm

I have really enjoyed receiving your Gardening Gone Wild messages. Thank you for doing what you obviously love to do. We used to live just north of San Diego when I worked at Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation. Perfect area for growing anything. All of your gifts are so nice, I would like any one of them. Keep up the good work.
David.

Merrilee 'Annie' Morgan May 30, 2013, 4:22 pm

A tough decision – #1 the watercolor or #5 the mug – hmmm. I think #1, the watercolor because: it’s an original, I love agaves, and it will fit beautifully in our bathroom with other garden art.

I’m so looking forward to getting a copy of your new book. Now I’ll have to wait until 6/3 to order it in the hopes that I’ll be a winner. And possibly a copy of your online photo album! Wow! More anticipation!

Thank you for having the Giveaway!
Cheers,
Annie Morgan

Hi Debra,

Thanks for giving us this wonderful opportunity to win a prize. I would love to have a

signed copy of your book Succulents Simplified and the Agave watercolor, but I would

also be very happy with the 7 succulent post cards or the mug of the graptopetalum. I t

thoroughly enjoy reaidng your other books Succulent Container Gardens and Designing

with Succulents, particularly since you have so many great pictures showing various yards

in SoCal where I grew up with many cacti and succulents in my backyard or my

Grandmother’s backyard. back in high school I used to work at House of Cactus in

Stanton, CA and my paychecks would always go towards buying some new and unusual

opuntias. I now live in the Pacific Northwest and it has been a challenge to grow them

outside, but again, I found the information posted in your previous books useful as far as

figuring out how to grow succulents in cold weather climates. I wanted to add that I

posted the cover to your new book on my facebook page as well. Thanks again,

Ernie

Ed Yemola May 30, 2013, 5:57 pm

Prize #1, your watercolor, would be my first choice followed by either the Prize #4, the notecards, and Prize #5, the beautiful mug! The reason I would love these is that they would be a great surprise for my wife!!!

Jeri Thiede May 30, 2013, 8:31 pm

Sweetstuff sent me here and I would love the watercolor or the bouquet, actually anything would be wonderful. I have just gotten the bug recently, so have a lot more to learn. The private class would be great, but living in Nebraska would make it a bit difficult. WIshing you much success in your future endeavors!!

David Bayer May 31, 2013, 12:15 am

I just recieved your new book. I have all three of your books and buy them in groups of 3 and give them to friends.

ellen May 31, 2013, 12:09 pm

Succulents are not the garden backbone here on Cape Cod that they were in my Oklahoma garden, but I can’t resist adding a few.

Anna May 31, 2013, 3:19 pm

Wow, what a generous giveaway contest! Any of the prizes would be wonderful to win, so it’s a little hard to rank them, but I’ll try.

I think I’d most like to win the agave watercolor (#1). The “close-up” composition and intense coloring are very appealing and capture the simple but striking form of agaves (plus this one won’t send out numerous pups to control ;-). I enjoy having touches of original artwork in our home, particularly from local artists.

I’d also be very pleased to win the container workshop (#2). I’ve enjoyed the instructional online video clips, of course, but there’s nothing like an in-person experience, is there? I have a really good local friend who, like me, is also trying to creatively add more succulents to her water-wise garden, so if I was lucky enough to win that prize, I’d invite her. I could also invite 1 or 2 neighbor friends who would quickly learn to love succulents in their gardens if provided a gentle “nudge”. I’m in nearby in Encinitas, have a flexible schedule, and can easily get to the Oasis Nursery for a workshop.

The notecards (#4) are also a very appealing prize, as I prefer to send either my own handmade cards or cards of local artists/photographers. Also, card sets with local images make great hostess gifts when we travel (light weight, easy-to-pack, a “slice-of-home” interest, plus, who can’t use some lovely cards?). Many of my card recipients have told me they enjoyed the card images so much they kept and framed them (I’ve done the same thing); who frames a mass-produced card?

I’m not a big fan of cut flower arrangements, because they just aren’t practical enough, despite their beauty. Whether commercially grown flowers or cut freshly from the garden, cut floral arrangements require daily water changes, removal of spent flowers, & continually re-cutting stems if one hopes to enjoy their fleeting beauty as long as possible; even so, one is lucky to get more than 10 days of enjoyment before it’s time to send them to the compost pile. But the long-lasting and re-plantable succulent rosette concept (#3) is very intriguing, so a chance to enjoy some “in the flesh” would be a very long-lasting treat, and perhaps just the incentive I need to try making rosettes myself.

I already own a copy of Succulents Simplified that I pre-ordered as soon as I hear about it, but having a signed copy would be quite useful. I often get a 2nd copy of favorite books, so I can lend without fear of being without a copy to consult when I need it (or if the lent book doesn’t find its way back to me).

Also, I shared on Facebook today that I read Succulents Simplified cover-to-cover during a lengthy wait at Urgent Care over the recent Memorial Day Weekend (no worries, nothing too serious). I was so glad the book arrived just before driving to UC. I literally unpacked the book from the mail packaging in the car before I entered the UC clinic; what an excellent opportunity to dive into the book uninterrupted. I barely noticed the long wait time. A nurse even asked me about the book and took a photo of the cover with her phone camera because she just bought a home and was looking for easy-care re-landscaping ideas to replace the time and water-consuming lawn.

I’ve gone on far too long, but it’s hard to be brief when I think about how much my views and use of succulents have evolved since encountering your books last year while searching for a better way to re-design and maintain my water-wise garden in Encinitas. Your books provide not only provide design inspiration and clear, appealing photos of the best plant choices for home gardeners (and not just in So Cal), but also the practical information needed to plant, propagate, and maintain the plants so that they remain healthy and attractive without nearly as much work as many other popular home landscape plants. None of the other many books on succulents that I consulted last year were nearly as useful to me as I prepared our garden for a mid-Jan to mid-May absence while we were out of the country. Sure, a few succulents suffered from frost during winter cold snaps, and some unirrigated potted succulents suffered from lack of rain when the winter was over, but overall, we returned to a garden in better overall shape than we’ve ever found following even shorter absences. If I’d read Succulents Simplified before we left, I KNOW that that more of the plants would have survived the long period of neglect relatively unscathed. So I’m definitely hooked on succulents and plan to incorporate even more in our garden in the future (especially in containers!).

Roxie May 31, 2013, 6:00 pm

Congratulations! I can’t wait to get your new book and add it to the other two. Last fall I received some agaves from a friend which got me started and have been learning all I can about the different succulents, care and propagation, and how to design garden beds and pots. I’ve learned a lot from your Gardening Gone Wild and would love the workshop gift. My second and third choice would be the bouquet and the mug. Just so you know, I’ve put your book on my succulent Pinterest board for all to see. Thank you for giving a pup of your own. 🙂

Sher May 31, 2013, 10:26 pm

Being new to succulent gardening your book looks wonderful. Love the cup. Sweetstuff had your site.

Ernie Blevins May 31, 2013, 11:01 pm

Hi Debra,
I would love the agave water color, greeting cards, photo library or mug. I wish I could win the training session, but I live up here in the Pacific Northwest. I posted your ad to your new book on my facebook page as well 🙂

I started to grow cacti and succulents at my parents house in Los Alamitos and my grandmother’s house in Ventura. I also worked at House of Cactus off Beach Blvd in Stanton, CA in the late ’80’s. It is no longer around, but I learned a lot from Richard and Nancy the previous owners. I have learned a great deal from your other books, Debra and I am excited to be in the running for your new book. I now live in the Pacific Northwest and learned quite a bit about growing echeverias and other succulents in this area from your book Designing with Succulents. I have an outdoor opuntia garden, but I also maintain a fair number of cacti in my 6x8x8.5′ greenhouse. it is already completely filled with cacti and succulents. Thanks again for this kind offer. Ernie

Gloria June 1, 2013, 11:37 am

Hi, I actually stumbled upon a garden show this AM for the first time on my Kindle and heard YOU! I am far away in NM, but the mug and the book may be “doable” in case I am a prize recipient.

I have been on a real journey with gardening in the Southwest, in general, as I came here 15 years ago from NJ where I was a Master Gardener (Rutgers U.-sponsored.) Needless to say, it was a total shock to become a gardener in the harsh environment of the high desert where I live now!

Of course, succulents came to the fore. Let me share my experience with one I had grown with spectacular success in NJ…but, required a “re-tooling” when I got here! The Sedum “Autumn Joy” …so common, so easy to grow, right? In NJ, I had several that were placed to get the strong afternoon sun. In the ground, they grew to be big, robust plants about 3 feet wide! They almost looked like bushes!
Then…..I move to a location at about 4500 feet, with the harsh sun and the very dry summer and a yard that is like a wind tunnel…..well, in the ground they go and …..poor results. So, into wide, bowl shaped pots and, although I will never get the huge “bushes” I had in NJ, I have plants now do well “down-sized” and that overwinter with protection. Cut them back, give the a bit of B1/trace minerals in the spring and they revive beautifully at the start of the season. If there are any gaps from die-back, I fill it with a nice garden ornament.
Now, as the heat and sun intensify, I am able to move them to gentler locations. I usually place them where they get some filtered sun in the afternoons. I water regularly and they stay in good condition. In the fall, I get a small display of flowers, but I don’t get upset about that. I’m just happy to be able to have a nice display of healthy green plants through the summer and fall in this very trying environment…not only the heat, but the wind in the micro-climate that is my yard. The combination of factors means it is important to understand the changing conditions and being able to move the plants to
locations which they can adapt to throughout the year!!

I also grow cacti outdoors, aloe indoors…. but would love to learn even more to make my garden even more colorful through using succulents!!

Thanks for all your knowledge!

Thanks for the opportunity of free gifts. I would like to have the prize (5), so that I could enjoy the morning coffee at my backyard with my lovely succulents and your new book. I had bought your book “Designing with Succulents” and “Succulent Container Gardens”, used to read them every night while I was crazy about collecting succulents, very informative. Thanks again.

I’m still a fan and would love to win your contest, however I’m here to re-do my settings on receiving follow-up comments and new posts to this contest. I’d like to take my name off the list to receive these additional comments. My inbox is flooded and I didn’t think ahead of how this might happen. Thanks.

John Drexel June 1, 2013, 9:43 pm

Debra,

Wow, I’m so happy for you, 347 posts with a full day to go! Your book arrived from Amazon Thursday. I’ve only had time to read the first two chapters, as expected, it’s excellent. I considered taking Friday as a vacation day but had an important project to finish for one of my best clients.

I wanted to support your contest in some small way. I just read through a number of contestant’s entries – it must be satisfying to know how much you are appreciated. Each prize has great appeal and I’m sure the winners will be thrilled. I already won earlier this year and so will not add to the intrigue. (Only two of your offspring have found Jersey inhabitable.)

I’m thrilled for you and look forward to seeing the results.

Your friend,

John Drexel

Anne June 1, 2013, 10:30 pm

I would love to win choice #2, a two-hour private container workshop with Debra Lee Baldwin at Oasis Water Efficient Gardens and (wow – also) the book. That would be absolutely outstanding. I would very much enjoy the opportunity to garden with you and learn from you.

Thank you for the opportunity to enter to win these prizes.

Anne Decker June 2, 2013, 7:53 am

Hi Debra
I would love your agave watercolor painting as it reminds me of our gracing paths throughout the years. (Mainly at Rogers Gardens)
It will be the first painting hung in my first forever home.

When we first met years ago I felt as though we were plantmates. Someone who could see and share the same love and passions for these textural beauties. You have since fulfilled my dreams from speaking sharing growing and art. You are my go to book of knowledge. Thank you for all that you have given us.
Anne

Inez June 2, 2013, 10:39 am

I would love to win #3, the succulent boquet. The succulents are beautiful and I love getting new ones to add to my collection. Thanks for having the opportunity to win them.

LAJ June 2, 2013, 1:45 pm

I’d be ecstatic to win any of the above, but the watercolor agave would be especially of interest to me, for obvious reasons… ahem… and the container garden workshop would be most handy, considering I’m dying to start my own, but haven’t the first clue how to go about it!

Guida Quon June 2, 2013, 2:17 pm

Hi Debra,
I would love to be the lucky one to win #1. Hoping to be able to be at Rogers Gardens in Newport Beach see you in person.
Best regards,
Guida

Lorraine Ferguson June 2, 2013, 2:35 pm

The nursery outing with Debra would be a delight. Once we have finished you are more than welcome to come explore my 2 acres in Anaheim and see what I have been creating with succulents and other plants thus far. It is always so much fun to learn new ways to combine and use succulents. Hope to hear you speak in June in Palos Verdes.

Wendy Arteaga June 2, 2013, 3:32 pm

I love succulents!! I would truly appreciate a free lesson, I have many succulent container gardens I have created on my own from looking at books and pictures. I have learned by trial and error, to be taught by someone who knows what they are doing would be wonderful! 🙂 I keep notecards at my desk so I can quickly write a thank you, birthday greeting or just a special note to someone who needs it. I would love the notecards, they are beautiful!! The mug would be a great addition to my collection. I enjoy a good cup of coffee in the mornings when I’m watering my garden! All in all the book is what I would really be after, I’m always looking for new ideas and succulents to pot in my garden and pots!! Thank You!!

Mari Guthrie June 2, 2013, 4:32 pm

I’m totally addicted to succulents. I enjoy seeing all your Facebook postings and your newsletters. You do awesome work. I went to you’re last workshop at Waterwise Botanicals and am looking forward to the upcoming one, and looking forward to getting your new book. I would be pleased to win any of the prizes, but would especially love the 2 hour private workshop. Thank you for this opportunity.

allypally June 2, 2013, 4:33 pm

I would love to see a succulent bouquet up close… so #3, and of course a copy of the book!! Thanks for the give away!

Elena Helgeson June 2, 2013, 6:21 pm

Just picked up the new book yesterday at the SDCSS show and would love to attend a workshop and learn how to make those gorgeous bowls and baskets! The book is great – I already learned some new facts about a couple of plants in our collection.

mary maxwell June 2, 2013, 6:56 pm

I would be thrilled to win your new book. All the prizes are great. The watercolor is gorgeous!!

I first heard you speak years ago at Succulent Extravaganza in Castroville. Also the last two years at San Francisco flower & garden show. Thank you for all your inspiration!
I have your book “Succulent Container Gardens” & love it.

Thank you for Gardening Gone Wild. I joined today. I liked you on facebook I was #2489.

Keep up your great work.

Mary

Missy C. June 2, 2013, 7:08 pm

Congratulations on book 3! I refer to your book 2 for inspiration each time I rearrange my container garden with new must have plants. Your agave watercolor is gorgeous and would look great overlooking my family of potted succulents. Your succulent bouquet would first be enjoyed, then dissected and distributed among my growing list of friends converted to succulent fans based on the insight from your books, photos, and videos. Thanks for all your inspiration!

Susan from Vista June 2, 2013, 7:28 pm

My choice would be the seven note cards for several reasons. I love to send note cards that have a meaning to me or a special meaning to the recipient. My burgeoning passion for succulents is obvious when looking around our yard. Many of my plant smart friends and my close pals, would really appreciate receiving a D L Baldwin card, as it was selected for them, full of thought. It seems the art of actual handwriting may be going the way of the Edsel. It would please me no end to have these lovely note cards available to send a handwritten note, with the beautiful art work, created with great thoughtfulness.

Todd June 2, 2013, 11:43 pm

Looks like some awesome material that I would love to win. I would especially love to read your book, awesome information you always provide.

julie heussenstamm June 3, 2013, 1:22 am

Hello!
congratulations on your book. My choice would be the mug and book. Your work is beautiful, it must bring you much joy as it does all who see it!
