Something New and Funky

Even though I have more vases than I care to admit, the last time when I was in Israel, I found something quite unusual at the Tel Aviv Museum’s gift shop. It is called VAZU, an expandable vase. It was wrapped in packaging similar to that of pantyhose. And since I couldn’t undo the wrapping to see exactly what the vase looked like, I just had to buy it. After all, what’s a girl to do?

If so, let me know! I was pleasantly surprised to discover that once the vase was filled with water that it was transformed into somewhat of a sophisticated/modernistic design: very appealing and unique!

I’ve seen this offered by Lee Valley Tool Supply, but don’t know if they still carry them. They are neat looking and a fun novelty vase.

You’re right, Carol: Lee Valley still has them (on their web site, at least) in blue and green. Wouldn’t it be neat if someone sold a pack with five or six different colors? That would make a great gift!

Those really do look like expensive glassware with the color on the inside surrounded by clear glass. Wow.

They would be great to keep in the car for when you visit a fellow gardener and are offered cuttings of some cool plant, wouldn’t they? (Okay, that’s never happened to me yet, but I’m hoping someday… lol.)

How much was the vase? Is it sold anywhere else other than at the museum? I am going to Israel this week and would love to bring the vases home as gifts. Thank you!

First, have a great trip to Israel! Second, I don’t know if it is sold elsewhere in Israel. I would get onto the website that I mentioned in the post and see if they offer locations where it is sold.

It is difficult for me to gage how much the vase was in American dollars. I believe it was 40 shekels (I could be wrong) which would make it about $10. Good luck! Fran
